Here's a really good article about that. Good luck!

I don't know why it's not working. Sometimes I find that I can't just click on links but actually have to copy/paste the address in my browser - have not idea why... I just clicked on the link in my previous message and it worked fine. Why don't you try to the copy/paste thing? Can't hurt to try...  :-)

I agree with Ilovepaper - it's all about closures and materials. I just found the following site - maybe it'll give you some ideas...

Good luck!!   Grin
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: So here it is!!! My first bag ever!!! on: October 29, 2004 06:50:12 PM
Thanks for the encouragement and the very flattering comments - you're very sweet. Like you suggested I will take an inventory of how much I spent on the bag and go from there.

What I've never understood about pricing crafty things is the fact that I notice no one takes into account the time it took them so make something. Even if your materials added to $1 what about the time you spent making it? I guess this question comes from the fact that I'm a graphic designer and I charge many projects by the hour ($60hr) and I know I would never get that much when making something by hand. I do realize that I make my living as a designer and that the crafty thing would be a side thing that I do more for the love of using my hands than for the extra cash...

I'll keep you posted...

Very logical... I'll look for that section. Thanks for the tip! I'm just curious to see if it would be something feasible. Not that I need anything else on my plate right now!   Grin

How much would you think would be fair to charge for a bag like mine? I have no clue as to how to go around pricing something like this..

HONEST! CROSS MY HEART! I had never made anything on my sewing machine - I was scared to even try. I just really got into studying how bags are made and really planned the whole thing out (to the point of being absurd!) and went for it. I got tired of hearing my husband tease me that he'd given me the sewing machine  so it could pick up dust (he gave it to me on my birthday 3 years ago bec. I begged him to...).

Good luck with your project!!

Thanks so much for the compliments and ideas.

Conley - You're idea sounds great! I'll have to try that with my new bag I'm planning on making. I'll post pics when I'm done.

thingwraith - thanks for the compliments! I've been using my bag a lot and have actually gotten asked if I sell them! Talk about feeling extra flattered...  :-)

9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Scrabble Tiles on: October 07, 2004 09:49:33 PM
Glue them to some sort of backing (cork?) and make cool coasters out of them!
10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Tell me what you think-my new site: theplaidroom.com on: October 02, 2004 07:20:06 PM
I agree with everyone - the site is very professional looking and easy to navigate. The design is clean and uncluttered. I design websites for a living so I've seen my share of bad and good ones!

My comments:
- I agree with the above comments regarding the additional pictures of the products. I would love to see swatches of the fabrics and the inside of the purses. It's nice to see the details - ie. type of zippers, lining color, etc.

- This next comment is one of those just little picky things I notice. The phone image in the contact us page could go at least 20% smaller. It stands out from the rest of the site where your proportions are more delicate and consistent.

- What color is used for the initial on the monogrammed purse?

Your products look very well crafted and I'm sure your site will be a hit!
