Well I'm certainly not an expert but I'd be glad to tell you what I did. I sewed the exterior and the lining separately. Then I folded the top of the exterior inward and the top of lining outward- ironed both top edges completely flat. I placed the lining inside the exterior (backs facing each other) and then sewed them together. Does that make sense? I've included a close up of the top edge of the bag.

There may be a better way I don't know but that's what I did...   Smiley

I'm pretty proud of this project considering I have not clue as to how to sew at all. Honest!
I just looked at a lot of different styles and really looked at how things are made. I've seen great bags on this site and I've also taken a few ideas from several of them - hope you don't mind!

I'm undecided as to whether to leave the bow or not (I have it fastened with a pin right now). I'm leaning towards getting rid of it - it's looking to cutesy... I needed a bag that could carry in an organized way all the things I need when going out with my two little ones (drinks, wallet, cell phone, diapers, etc etc) - that's what inspired the bag - plus I absolutely dislike all the diaper bags out there and I'm tired of my typical black backpack that I carry around. The little hook near the top is for my keys.

Any comments are much appreciated! Improvements/changes for a future version?
