1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mini Tea Party Set on: January 04, 2011 09:10:25 AM

This little dollar store tea set was turned into a gift for my grand daughter to share with her American Girl dolls.  It was a fast gift, easy to make, inexpensive but very loved.

1 dollar store toy tea set
1/3 yard fabric
2 yard trim
scissors, sewing machine with thread
about 20 minutes

The tin "trunk" was also a dollar store find.  I used the plastic the tea set was sold in, trimmed to fit, to display and gift this little girls toy!

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Amish Puzzle Ball Pincushion as Christmas Ornament on: December 17, 2010 11:33:49 AM
I saw a bowl of these in December 2010 Better Homes and Garden Magazine, but no instructions.  I did a little research so I could make these with poinsettia as my inspiration.

Merry Christmas

I am posting this early, before the dollar stores run out of supplies Smiley

These are the supplies needed:  1 18" wreath, 10 stems (flowers and leaves), wire cutters, craft glue

Last years wreaths made the same way:

4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Mad Men Style Vintage Dress for Halloween Party on: October 31, 2010 05:06:46 PM

This dress is made from a vintage pattern for Halloween.  The pattern, purchased from ebay, was originally sold via a weekly newspaper insert that advertised a sewing pattern one could send away to obtain.  The postage to mail this pattern was 1 cent!  This dress was made from "vintage" fabric (well about 30 year old fabric) and actually had a vintage zipper and buttons used.  The Cording on the pocket, neck and sleeves was an enhancement and the placket down the front was added to enhance button placement.  The look was a party winner!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / For a girl who loves horses! on: October 13, 2010 10:35:27 PM
This is a little project I made for my 7 year old grand daughter who loves horses!

The Tee shirt was purchased but I machine embroidered the horse head/horse shoe with colors found in the skirt fabric.  The skirt was so easy, made with a yoga style comfy waist band for a little girl.

See the "how to" on my sewing blog.

Warm little Flannel Valentines Dresses.

This flannel fabric came from Joann's and it washed up beautifully.

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Heart and flower on: July 20, 2008 09:54:41 PM
I made this pin cushion for my Victoriana swap partner and they encouraged me to post it here.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Cat On the Hat on: July 13, 2008 06:20:10 PM
I made this little hat from fabric found in my left over scrap bin.  When my daughter was young and all about cats, I made a dress for her from this fabric.  The cat fabric is a knit, the lining is a woven cotton fabric, and the inside hat band is gross grain to keep the hat from stretching.

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Wool Pillow/Cushion with some style! on: June 21, 2008 03:35:04 PM
This is one of my signature pillows made from an 100% wool woman's blazer purchased from our local "Save A Pet" thrift store.
