1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: American Apparel Circle Scarf on: February 22, 2009 01:03:20 PM
I made one of these about a month ago (it's freakin' freezing in pennsylvania- this keeps you super warm) and I love it. I found some awesome mustard yellow spandex/knit fabric in the remnants bin at joann fabrics that I had been dying to make something with, and it turned out to be the perfect size! You just cut it into a long rectangle and then sew the ends together. Then sew the sewn ends together and you're done. I didn't sew the long edge together because the fabric I used doesn't fray (and it looked fine raw anyway).
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Just what you need, another song list... but it's a good one! on: February 12, 2009 04:49:42 PM
Someone mentioned earlier loving a Staind song, and it reminded me of "All I Want" by them.

What I leave and when you go
What I see and what you show
And what I guess and what I dont
Is something you already, already know

I cant live without
All I think about
All I want is you
Youre all I dream about
I cant live without
All I want is you

The things I do
What I go through
And all I say when Im away
And what I make from the shit I take
Is something you already, already know

I cant live without
All I think about
All I want is you
Youre all I dream about
I cant live without
All I want is you

Is you
Is you
Is you

Youre all I dream about
I cant live without
All I want is you

I cant live without
All I think about
All I want is you
Youre all I dream about
I cant live without
All I want is you

(You're all I dream about)
I can't live without
All I think about
All I want is you
(I just cant live without)
Youre all I dream about
I cant live without
All I want is you
(And all I think about is you)

And all I want is you

Yeah a shirt would be cool. How were you going to do the words? Fabric paint, transfer paper, embroidery, etc?

All of your projects are intimidating they're so good. I've been wanting to try a craft-a-long for a while now but school takes up a lot of my time. Hopefully I'll be able to manage. I think I might try those awesome yarn-wrapped bracelets. Thanks for the inspiration!
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Twilight birthday present? on: January 23, 2009 06:03:04 PM
Hi. I was thinking about making some kind of present related to Twilight for my friend's birthday. Her birthday was actually in December, so I'm a little late haha. She turned 17.

What have you crafted that had twilight on/in it?
Any ideas about what to make?

Thanks.

That sounds so cool! You could get a fog machine, and get some wall decals of trees to put on the wall. Oh, and you could also get some of that really big paper and make a teeny tiny "door"

For my sweet 16, the theme was a casino. it was really easy and very fun. I got tons of decks of cards at the dollar store. We rented a roulette wheel and bought a poker table top. The colors were red, green, and black, and everyone dressed up.
A friend of mine had a tie-dye party where everyone dressed in tie-dye. If you did that, you could have an area where you could make your own tie-dye.
Another fun idea is to make your party carnival themed. you could create little game booths.

Any ideas involving skiing? my bf is becoming a ski patroler tomorrow, and i'm trying to think of christmas presents.

My friend's a ski instructor, and a nice warm toque that fits under her helmet is always a hit with her.  You could also look into glove liners (if you knit, in something soft and light, like an alpaca sock yarn) neck warmers, a ski bag (a HUGE project, I know), warm handknit socks...  Someone on the bath and beauty board had posted some balm that she made to protect skin from the wind.  My friend buys something like that and swears by it.

As a patroller, does he need to carry first aid supplies with him?  Maybe you could make him some sort of a backpack to hold his stuff.  You could fill it with "keep warm" items like those self-heating glove warmers and hot chocolate mix.

Thanks so much! I don't think he's so into knitted things. But those are great ideas. Maybe I'll get him something warm. Yeah, he does have to carry supplies with him, but he just bought this big fancy vest to hold it all. What is a toque?

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Wii Birthday Party! need ideas on: December 02, 2008 06:28:41 PM
why not make a cake decorated like a wii remote? if you have a long rectangular cake pan, it should be pretty easy. just frost it with white and decorate with gels. you could also make a tennis racket shaped pinata or something. and you can replace your lightbulbs with blue ones to get that "wii" feel.
