Sorry I haven't been around for the past few days! I haven't been feeling well. My sinus are all backed up and it is killing me. I went to work yesterday and I was like 'bleh' the whole day. Not fun. Sending updates to everyone today
I am almost done! I am just waiting on one person to contact me and on my needles to come home from walmart. Then I will decide if I need to make another pouch or not and my buttons will be sewn then I will be finished! Whew!
Hey, just curious, but I had some trouble deciding on what to give who because everyone liked the same color choices! I contemplated making more than one of the popular color but I couldn't because I couldn't find the same materials. Did anyone else have the same problem? FYI, I think I was able to give everyone their top or second choice. If everything goes right, I should be able to send out the first batch tonight or tomorrow!
Most of the time, when I can help it, I press my seems toward the darker/contrast color blocks. I don't like the way you can sort of see the seams when I press them towards the white fabric. I don't think it matters that much but I am new to this whole quilting thing
Oh and I don't think I made it clear. The first person would post a list of premade squares or blocks and the next person would pick from them and post their list of premade squares or blocks and so on.
These swaps by them selves seem to be very popular and they are really fun! So I was thinking how about we make a swap that is sort of like the ongoing offer what you have swaps but for friendship blocks/ granny squares and quilt blocks?
This way, if you can't knit, loom, or crochet, you can still make a granny square ghan and offer quilt blocks, or if you aren't good at piecing quilt blocks, you can offer knit squares and get quilt blocks.
I was also thinking, that 'custom quit block' or 'custom knit square' could be one of the things you can offer for those that want blocks out of their own fabric. The fabric would have to be sent out within a week, then, when received, the blocks or squares would have to be completed and sent out within 2 weeks.
There would be size guidelines and a minimum amount of squares you have to have before you can pick. Customs could only be a maximum of two choices (custom quilt block and custom knit/crochet/loomed square)(it couldn't be your only choices).
This was only a fleeting idea that I had. I don't know how well it would work but what do you think?
