This is so terrific.  You are a craft genius!

I've dropped you a PM in case you are still open to a swap of some sort.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Viking Hat on: October 21, 2009 07:33:49 AM
I love hats!!!

I've only been knitting for 11 months and I've knitted 13 hats   Grin

baby hats, jayne hats, cabled hats, fruity hats, stripped hats, all kinds of hats.

But this one is lots of fun!

I made it from a free pattern http://rsveverka.com/chileconyarne/2008/04/baby-viking-hat/ and up sized it to fit my hubby.

Doesn't he make a terrific model?

The yarn was relcaimed from sweaters for both the helmet and the horns.  (Meaning the sweaters were disassembled and unwound to reuse their yarn, so in following the rules, I did use string and sticks, not fabric)

It was a fun project, and I think I'll make me one to match his.

Where do we enter this contest.

I have one that I just finished that I'd like to put into the running.

I didn't have 9's... I just used 8's for the whole thing...  not knowing enough to know if it would mess it up too badly.  but it fits that's the important thing.

I did it!!! I finished it!  yay me, yay for new hat

The pattern was very easy to follow, only had to go to knitting help.com twice for to figure out what something meant or how to do the stich.

This is my third knitting project. (1. sampler scarf 2. baby hat 3. purple Le slouch)

My hat is at the decreasing stage.  I'm really excited to see how it turns out.  I tried it on in the car yesterday with the needles sticking out of it and all.   Grin

caramelo,

I think you and I are "sisters from another mother"...

I got to where I was going to increase and realized that some where in my going round and round in circles I'd started going backwards somewhere...  so it was longer /higher on 1 side than the other by at least 2 rounds.

So I pulled all mine out and started again too...   Cheesy
