11  The Bag Lady scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by TPK on: December 12, 2004 07:54:23 PM
This is the Bag Lady scarf, diagonally knitted from a bajillion little leftover bits of yarn in various weights (some had to be doubled or tripled to reach the proper thickness).

I don't care if it's hideous.  I love it.

12  And now, what you've all been waiting for... potholders! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by TPK on: December 11, 2004 03:46:38 PM
Yeah, I know, potholders ... weeeeeee.

Quite a while ago I noticed a project to make potholders out of old blue jeans, and I rightly assumed that any denim-like heavy cotton fabric would probably work as well.

Shortly thereafter, my husband was about to toss out his old camo pants.  *click*

And now we have potholders that we can never seem to find...

These have held up remarkably well, considering they were my first crack at potholder-making.  Over the last eight years, they've picked up some stains and a minor burn mark or two, but the camo seems to cover that pretty well.

My cousin is currently serving as a U.S. army cook.  I should really make a pair of these for him, don't you think?
