Beautiful wedding!!!  It is so classy and timeless.  Great job!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Paint Chairs Green or Brown? on: May 10, 2008 07:13:23 AM
Thanks guys.  I think I'm gonna go with the green.  I think the kitchen cabinets in our new house are the same color brown, so I don't want to have the whole kitchen/dining area so dark.  Yay!  I'm excited now.  I think the green will look amazing.  Even the DH likes the green.  Now I just have to have him make the chairs a little more solid with some glue and then get to sanding, priming and painting on our tiny apartment balcony.  haha.  Thanks again everyone.  I think I might try to get them done in time to enter then into the hot seat challenge so you can see the final product there!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Paint Chairs Green or Brown? on: May 09, 2008 02:34:33 PM
Hey everyone,
So I'm redoing some chairs and a table that were free and am trying to decide what color to paint them.  I wish I could sand them down and re-stain them, but alas, they're just a veneer, so painting is my only option.  I redid the cushions on 2 of them so far and am debating about whether to paint them brown or be a little daring and go with green.  I played with the pictures using GIMP and wanted some more opinions.  FYI there are 4 chairs total (these 2 and 2 others that don't match, but the original veneer is similar) and a table (it also has a similar veneer).  I think I'll paint the table the brown no matter what I paint the chairs.  Ok, here are the pics.

If anyone has any other color options, I'm open to ideas.  Thanks everyone!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: HEY EVERYBODY! Post your Wedding Song on: May 06, 2008 07:07:18 AM
Our song was "Luckiest" by Ben Folds.  When we were dancing to it though, I couldn't believe how LONG it was!  haha.  Not that I didn't enjoy it, but when everyone's staring at you and you know they want to eat soon, it seems like forever.  I still get a little teary-eyed when I listen to it though.
For the ceremony we had "Come thou fount of every blessing" play when the grandmothers and moms were being seated and when my DH came down the aisle with the pastor to stand at the front.  Then my aunt who played the organ for the ceremony did a neat thing with Pachabel's canon.  She flipped it so the end was played when the bridesmaids walked down the aisle then went back to the beginning for when I came down the aisle with my dad.  She really did an amazing job with it.

Thanks so much!  I absolutely loved my dress!  It is a Maggie Sottero that had been a store sample, so I got it for much cheaper than it normally would have been.  I just went to a local boutique that had tons of samples to choose from.  Since we just had a 2 month engagement, I couldn't really order something so it worked out perfectly.

I blurred out all the last names.  Nelson is my dad's first name.  My husband's last name starts with a G.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Red Polka Dot Wedding Invitation on: April 08, 2008 02:48:14 PM
I'm designing the wedding invitations for my brother-in-law and his fiancee and wanted to post the rough draft.  They're doing a red and white polka dot themed wedding.  I should have been a graphic design major cause I love doing this stuff.

Thanks so much!  The centerpieces ended up being really cheap since I just got bowls and vases from Walmart and then bought the apples.  It's something people still comment on!  Now my brother-in-law is getting married so I'm helping with that.  So fun!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: skirts skirts and more skirts! on: January 28, 2008 11:14:02 AM
Do you then just hand stitch them on?  What if it is a fairly intricate piece?  Do you just try to get the big parts stitched down?  And what stitches would you use?  Would it work to use a spray adhesive or something?

How would one go about appliqueing doilies onto fabric?  Do you just stitch it by hand? machine?  I'd really like to try it.
