also, im a bit confused about bento box sizes, coz the size chart on one of those sites said that an adult box should be 600ml capacity in total, but then some of the boxes sold as 'childrens' have 600ml capacity... can anyone shed any light?
In Japan they're pretty health conscience. For females, bentos generally start at 400ml and go up to about 700ml when they hit puberty (for males it starts at 400ml and goes up to 900ml). The bento sizes start to get bigger, but then when they reach the age of 18 (for women) they start to go back down. (You know, in most countries as women get older they start to watch what they eat, same with Japan). They start watching their calorie intake when they reach this age, and believe that calorie intake corrosponds to capacity (600ml=600 calories) So that's why when you see children and adult bento sizes they're generally the same.
I wrote out a simplified chart to show you what I mean (There are other aspects, such as height and physical activity, but this is just general)
I made this dress from scratch using REALLY soft knit polka dot fabric. I also used mustard yellow knit for the waistband and sleeves. The neck is cowl, as you can see in the last picture (with me hiding my face with it). I made puffy long sleeves and a high waist. I made the headband really quick before school...it's a bit crap, but it looked okay. I hope you like my dress though!
Some of the pictures I just put because they're a bit artsy and I liked them. hehe
Helloooo! So...I, like many other huge Batman fans, went to see The Dark Knight on Friday, BUT since I'm such a huge Batman fan, I decided to make a dress
--Ignore my face...hehe--
I made this dress out of cotton Batman fabric, with a back zipper. The front panel is made from black vinyl and the strap is just black lycra...I'm wearing a top underneath in these photos. The belt is just from a kid's costume that I wore for Halloween
This top is PERFECT for summer. I reconstructed a GIR shirt into this cute shrug. I made puff sleeves out of green jersey and used black lycra for the trim. The front is white with Gir print, and the back is all green jersey.
I made these capris using an XXXL Social Distortion tee. I added a red jersey waistband.
I haven't sewn for ages (about 5-7 years) but I recently decided to start up again. I started on Saturday making a dress, and I made another one on Sunday. I think they turned out really good, though the craftsmanship is loads better on the second one (the first was more of a practice dress than anything). For the first one I used a yellow ComFest shirt (it's like a hippie festival thingy...in Columbus...but I didn't go there myself, a few of my siblings did) and I also used some purplish fabric I found in my attic, and two cute yellow buttons.
I messed up a bit on the top part (too tight) and a bit on the skirt (too loose) =P
The next dress I made out of a red Nintendo shirt I found at Goodwill, some zebra fabric, red lace, and two red buttons. After I had made the dress my boyfriend got upset because we couldn't match anymore (he has the same red Nintendo shirt), but I consoled him a bit, saying we could still match only I'd be a bit more girly. I should convince him to buy zebra "cigarette" pants =P . Well, enough jibba jabba, here be muh dress yo.
oooo, Converse =P
YAY! I hope you like them =) . Oh, and be gentle, I've never reconstructed shirts/made a dress before.
