72  Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along in Craftalongs by dessadoll on: April 28, 2008 10:13:25 PM
Alright I don't know who is more impatient, the Earth Goddess poppet or me.  She isn't entirely done...but she doesn't want me to make her dress without another opinion.  I think her dress should be the dark fabric, and the light fabric as bloomers underneath...she said its fine either way, but want some opinions.

Once she is dressed, and the finishing touches added...I'll post her again.

She is telling me her name is Fern, but I have a feeling when she gets to her Wiccan home she will want to change it...lol (p.s she does have a nose just hard to see from the angle of these pics.)

This is the dark fabric

And this is the light fabric

Any opinions on which fabric needs to be more prominent...please let me know....she is getting a little upset about being nakey still.

73  Slumber party weekend project. in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by dessadoll on: April 22, 2008 10:08:44 PM
My DD (the taller one) and my niece, wanted some new dresses.  So of to the fabric closet we went.  They helped me pin, and cut....and I did the sewing, since they were too busy playing.  The one for my daughter, I used a simplicity pattern and modded it a little, okay, a bunch.  And for the life of me, I can't find the pattern in all my craft stuff from this past week.  When I do, I will add the number.  The dress for my niece was a simple from scratch project.  No pattern, just an image in my mind.

Hope you like it....any comments or criticisms are welcome.

p.s. sorry for the sucky pic....will get a better action pic (as soon as our snow is gone here)

74  Stuffed Yo Yo Butterfly in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by dessadoll on: April 22, 2008 10:01:22 PM
Introducing "FLAME"

I showed my daughter some yo yo animals.  And she told me she wanted a butterfly.  I looked everywhere for a pattern, and could not find one.  So, just went with the idea, and voila!  We went through my scrap fabric, and she fell inlove with the flames.   So, I put her to work.  She had to make the 6 flame yoyos.  I traced a cereal bowl to get the size.  Then I used a measuring cup for the tail yo yo , and mixing bowl for the head.  The wings were just basic quilting.  And the eyes, everyday acrylic paint.

Hope you all like her.

Here is my daughter showing of her FLAME. (Ignore the messy hair, I made her get out of bed to take the pic...rofl)

Here is a pic of my daughter and neice sewing their yoyo bodies... (The pink one isn't complete yet. Will post later)  And of course, one of our many fur balls had to supervise.

Any comments or critics are welcome.

75  First Poppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by dessadoll on: April 13, 2008 01:35:23 AM
Hi all, I posted her in the Poppet Along, but she was disappointed that she didn't have her own post.  So, I thought I better put this on so she stops pouting...(at least that is what my daughter told me...lol)
My daughter named her Gabriella.  Gabby for short, since they will be gabbing buddies.  She's done entirely by hand....body, hair, clothes...etc.
Hope you like her.
P.s. the one with her and the basket, is her wanting her picture with the Easter Bunny.

Thanks for letting me share her with you.

76  GUESS WHAT>>> I finally did it!!! in Craftalongs by dessadoll on: April 03, 2008 08:26:39 PM
Alright, so Ghile sent me the pattern a few weeks ago, and I've been wanting to get one made.  And oh man did I learn from my mistakes.  First thing I learnt, read the instructions, and use freezer paper.  I did neither of these....So I did my poppet, ENTIRELY BY HAND!  Didn't even weft the hair...sewed it all on individually.  I figured...once I started by hand, by golly, she was going to be done all by hand.
My daughter is in love with her, and has told me her name is "Gabriella", and
Gabby for short, because she wants them to be gabbing buddies.  So here she is......

Not sure if you can see it, but she has 2 half pony tails tied up with ribbom

This next one is of her back so you can see her bloomers....she isn't exactly lying straight, but she is symetrical.

Gabriella wanted a picture with the Easter Bunny.

And of course, Gabby and my daughter.  Getting to know each other.

I still want to add on some eye lashes, and a nose, not completely convinced though, what the consensous?

77  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by dessadoll on: March 24, 2008 11:51:10 PM
Here are the 3 that I have so far.

First, the innocence of childhood.  A fairy that my daughter picked out.  I got this to represent her.

Second, Betty Boop Nurse.  Simply put, I'm a nurse.

Third, Honda Goldwing symbol with "Live Love Ride".  My parents life quote, along with the symbol of their bike.  I got this to represent them, and their continuous love.  33 years together and going strong.

Hope you all like them.

78  Re: Post your photography in here :D in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by dessadoll on: March 18, 2008 11:29:00 PM
I don't call my self a photographer at all.  I merely play around with our plain jane digital.  Ignore the dates on the pics that say 2004.  The battery died, and when replaced, dated it on the day the camera was first turned on.... got that sorted out.   Anyway, just thought I would share a few.

Nothing fancy, just memories.
