1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / lingerie dresser re-do? on: August 26, 2012 06:22:47 PM
Hi all,

I'm redoing my room and part of that includes repainting/redecorating a lingerie dresser that was my mom's and it has been in my possession for many years. It is a cream/off-white color with gold edges and the drawer handles are the kind that look like they have wings. My plan is to paint it a dark brown, to match most of the furniture in my room, and all the gold accents will be silver.
What I don't know is if I should do a pattern on the front drawers, like paisleys, chevrons, etc?

Any suggestions would be great!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / 30th birthday gift ideas? on: May 18, 2012 08:34:36 PM
Hi,

One of my best friends is turning 30. We are going to Disney (FL) in August and we will be there for her birthday. I would really like to make her something. I was originally thinking of the 30 sucks lollipop idea but she probably wouldn't eat the lollipops.

She likes going to baseball games, she likes to read, she goes to the gym and is a runner. She also has a much better paying job than me especially because I am younger than her.

I can crochet, loom knit, do a bit of knitting, have painted a little bit, and cross-stitched a little bit, and I also have a cricut machine, and I can sew.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Necchi model 3610 manual? on: February 27, 2012 12:33:23 PM
Hey all,

I was just given a Necchi sewing machine model #3610 from my grandma. She couldn't find the manual for it and I have not been able to find anything online. Does anyone know anything about this brand and/or model? I've only ever used singer machines before.

Any help would be appreciated!  Smiley
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: 3 year old birthday on: November 06, 2011 12:39:14 PM
So I know your daughter's birthday has passed already but I just saw the thread and these ideas can be used for four year olds as well.

Okay so I have a couple of ideas. The first being an I Spy pillow.

http://www.oumedicine.com/workfiles/OU%20MEDICAL%20CENTER/I-SpyPillowPatterns.pdf

I'm sure there are better tutorials online but this is the one I just googled.

Idea number two, you could make a quiet book and make pages that have to do with sorting objects or tying shoes, etc. There are a lot of ideas on the Internet and then every so often you could add more pages.

The last idea would be to get a binder, clear page protectors, and dry erase crayons (crayola) and then print out activity pages from the Internet. Stick the pages in the protective sheets and put the pages in the binder.

I hope this helps.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / My mom's V-day B-day on: January 13, 2011 12:41:26 PM
My mom's birthday is on Valentine's Day. I always have problems either making or buying gifts for her. She does not like the color red, loves the color purple and green. Her favorite flowers are Iris, and she drinks tea.

In the past I have made her jewelry like beaded bracelets and such. I can crochet, sew, I'm teaching myself to knit, and I can make jewelry.

Any suggestions on what I can make her?

Thanks in advance for any help Smiley

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / size of a baby blanket? on: January 14, 2010 06:32:56 PM
Hi

So I'm making a baby blanket, and I'm not following any type of pattern. It is just a continuous granny square and every couple of rounds I switch between a white baby yarn and a multicolor gender neutral yarn. So far I have 19 rounds completed and it is about 24 inches. I know that it isn't big enough but I do not know how big it needs to be.

Thanks for any help.
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Ipod Case? on: December 13, 2009 08:29:21 PM
Does he have a favorite band? You could make an Ipod cozy with a design that showcases that band, like their specific symbol or name or something. There are a lot of good Ipod cozy tutorials here, just search Ipod cozy and I'm sure you will find something to inspire you.  Grin
9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Old makeup / makeup containers - compacts, eye shadow, lipstick, nail polish on: September 18, 2009 08:18:23 PM
I found an idea to make faux makeup for little girls using the empty makeup cases and nail polish.

Hope this helps a little.
10  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 42 ENTRIES / Butterfly Jewelry on: September 04, 2009 09:47:40 PM
Hi all, this is my first challenge ever and I had a lot of fun doing it. I have been on a jewelry making kick lately so when I walked into Dollar Tree I knew I had to make some jewelry, so I ended up making a necklace, a bracelet, and earrings. I bought everything from Dollar Tree except for the mono filament string, and the fishhook earrings. I bought a package of silver crimp beads, two packages of blue drop beads but I only used one package, a package of silver butterfly charms, a package of silver toggles, a package of blue seed beads, two packages of clear-ish glass beads, and two packages of metal spacers. I think the set looks pretty good for coming from supplies from the dollar store. So here are the pictures:

The stuff I bought

The jewelry

The earrings are actually flat but I couldn't get them to sit straight.
Thanks for looking, and I hoped you liked my $10 $9 butterfly jewelry!   Cheesy
