Okay, I finally have something new to show you guys. It's not nearly completed, but I desperately wanted to show it off... okay, my last trip to Ohio for thanksgiving, daddy dearest tried to bribe me to go by saying he'd take me to the fabric store. I was already going anyway, bribe or not, so before we left, he took me to Joann's (YAY!) All the mats, (2 yards of each fabric, a pack of batting, fleece for backing) all cost about 100 or so I think. So each time I pull the fabrics out, I see it and I get frustrated that it was just sitting there.
Finally got the inspiration to make it.
It's going to be a present for me and the bf on June 5th. (I hope I can finish it by then.) Our 3rd year anniversary (not married, just together) present. I adore him so much I'm going through heck to make it.
When I was picking them out, I picked them by how much I liked them individually, and by the color. (Wanted some purple in it, but he's partially colorblind, so it would have messed him up.)
Looking at them later, I thought it would never fit... So I just did it in the best way I thought it would look, and lo and behold I love it.
It's a surprise, even though he's holding it. I told him it was GONNA be for him, but I wanted it for me instead and that if it worked I'd make him a green one. If I can finish it early, I can put it in a box when he's not looking, and tell him I scrapped it or gave it away cuz I didn't like it, and by June he'll have almost completely forgotten about it. :3
Sorry for the long winded rant, I just adore this project SOOOOO much, and I'm so excited. I'm really thinking about getting more of the middle panel fabric so I can make it twice as wide instead of making an immense amount of rows. What do you guys think??
Okay, last thing, I promise!!! O.o Just about the length, he's about 6'3" so the quilt (without any of the borders on yet) is basically about as tall as him, he's holding it over his head. I did increments of 3 and 6" blocks after sewing seam allowances. (Like quilts for kids) Other than my quilts for kids, this is my very first quilt top and I'm kind of winging it and cutting out the pieces as I go.
Please tell me what you think??
