My daughter wanted to be Rapunzel this year!



Naturally her little brother took her lead and chose to be Flynn Rider.



I made their costumes from head to toe, literally!  I'd have loved to give "Rapunzel" a frying pan.

Congrats katara!  I'm doing wedding stuff too!  My sister's wedding...her dress, bridesmaid dress, flowergirl dress.  Whew!  But that'll all be over the first week of May, so then I'll get back to Christmas stuff.

I did, however, pull off a few Christmas ornaments this week, five to be exact.  They're just from kits my mom gave me (she bought 'em from the Oriental Trading Company).

I finally finished these tree plaques for my mom!



They were meant to be done in time for Christmas 2009, but better late than never, eh?  Now I'm packing them away until next Christmas so I won't be tempted to give them to my mom for her birthday in March.  (Actually, I'm using a Sharpie to write "Christmas 2010" on the back so I can't give them to her early!)

Three cheers for stoliedina and the Holiday Handmade Crusade!  I already have a half dozen ideas for 2010...not the least of which is the Advent calendar I started but didn't finish in 2009.

It never got beyond this stage...

I got some sewing done after all!



This cape and mask is for my 3-year-old's costume trunk (her Nana is making the trunk, but due to weather it won't be here in time for Christmas). She's been begging me for a while now to make her a costume to be "a super" AND a cape like the prince on Sleeping Beauty AND a magician's cape.  This knocks out a few costumes in one blow.  I drew out the patterns myself.



This is a ninja costume requested by both the daughter and the hubby.  I still have to figure out some way to make a ninja hood/mask.




I also made two wheat pillows with lavender and a bit of eucalyptus.  I bought one when I was in college for $30 and love it!  Of course, I made mine for a lot less than that!  I used plain muslin for the pillows and snuggle flannel (from JoAnn's on Black Friday!) for the covers. They are for my dad and his wife.

Christmas crafting has come to a total halt here - I have been laid out sick since yesterday morning! SO MANY THINGS TO DO!!!

I second that, the stockings are amazing!


My Christmas crafting has hit a wall too...I'm not the one who's sick, but my 3-year-old is down and between her and the newborn, I just don't have time!  I'm hoping to squeeze out the final things in the evenings when hubby's home to help. 

I did finish the two canopies I was working on for my cousins' kids...and just in time since we exchanged gifts this past Saturday!



They have 3 boys apiece, and this is good for a nice range of ages.  One already said it's going in the reading orner.

This craftalong will be just the kick in the pants that I need! I want to decorate my kids' room.  Right now it's pretty bare and boring. Here are some pictures I took earlier in the fall.  The only change is that we've moved the bird to the living room, so that space is even more empty!






I have some wall hangings planned and some shelves to paint and hang.  Any ideas or tip you have would be appreciated! :-)  I'm going for a tree theme since that'll be good for both boys and girls.

I had most of this costume done for a while now, but I was up late finishing the wings last night.  She was a big hit trick-or-treating at Daddy's work today.  The concept is from McCall's 5732, but I deviated significantly from the pattern in actual execution.

After making two prototypes (here and here) I was ready to make the actual Cinderella dress.  I used blue satin for the dress and coordinating blue organza for the sleeves and peplum.  The fabric was bought at JoAnn's on sale back in July when I promised my daughter a Cinderella dress for her third birthday.





Now I just have to wrangle it away from her and hide it until her birthday mid-November!

The first Cinderella dress prototype didn't fit very well, so I whipped up a second try.
