1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Rehabbed Train/Make-up Cases Dr. Who & Celestial Themed PIC HEAVY! on: March 26, 2009 12:21:30 PM

I used to have curtains made out of this fabric! My whole room in High school was all done up like a crazy ren fair gone to space lol.

I love the boxes by the way they are awesome!

Hahah, I bought the fabric years ago to make star pillows for gifts. I used the scraps left over for this. SO glad I kept them!

Great tutorial! Thanks so much for posting it. I tried making these once but I was laying the ribbon flat on a table so they weren't coming out right. Being able to see how the wrapping works is SO helpful! Great work!

Thanks so much guys! These were super fun to work on. I have a few more laying around that I am going to eventually do something with.

Hahah! I love it!! The kitties are a nice touch. I really hope you do Mcguirk. But choosing one of the things he says will most definitely be a challenge. Great work!

Hi! This is my first time posting a project I did and I can't wait to get some feedback. I am pretty happy with the way they turned out. I LOVE old train cases and am constantly buying them at yardsales. I somehow ended up with a surplus of them and since we were super broke at Xmas I decided to fix some of them up for my sister and Mother. The one I fixed up for my Mother was in pretty good shape so I just added a mirror and a new bottom. I also added a few images and some small amount of beadwork around them. I am dumb and didn't take any before pictures.  Embarrassed The second case I made for my little Sister who LOVES Doctor Who. Her case was a total wreck inside but it was Tardis blue so I HAD to use it. It had this horrible bright red lining that I had to rip out and replace. Hers took a while, but I was thrilled with how the new lining came out. It's a dark blue corduroy with a silver ribbon trim. I lined the top with black fabric and covered it in pictures and a new mirror. The top doesn't look as good as I would like, but I am happy with it none the less. SO anyway a ton of Mod Podge, hot glue, and Aleene's Craft Glue later this is how they turned out. I would love to hear what you guys think of them!

This is such a great idea! I can't wait to try it. Hhmmmm, I'm pregnant, Do you think I could pull off this same idea in a maternity style?  Huh

Absolutely! with a big enough sweater it would just hug your tummy... OR ... you could use a second sweater and cut triangular gores to give it a flared look. If you do the gores be sure to let the hem dip down lower in the front. Hope to see you posting soon!

Thanks so much for the tips!
