11  more than meets the eye-yet another built by wendy dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by feistymonkey on: July 13, 2008 11:38:47 PM
So I finally finished this dress that I had been working on forever. Unfortunately, when I started working on it, I was fatter. And I think that the pattern just runs large. Fast forward a couple months, and I have a very stylish tent. I'm happy with how it turned out as far as it being really well made (Mom helped) but I need to go back and do some serious adjusting. Maybe make the skirt stick out less, take in the back darts, and add some front ones.
Arg.
Here it is:

12  sock cthulu 2 in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by feistymonkey on: February 25, 2008 02:44:03 PM
Last summer my brother and I had a joint birthday party. I wanted to make him something cool and funky. Inspired by this post here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=108892.0 (the genuis toe sock cthulu post) I made my own version of sock cthulu (sans toe socks).

My brother was very excited. He actually squealed "Oh my God, it's Cthulu!"
And here's me, showing off the topstitching on the wings.

For the tentacles I just stitched some open ended, elongated triangles. I also went the easier route and used felt for the wings.
As it happened, there was a Call of Cthulu gaming session going on down the street. Obviously, he had to be introduced.

13  The ubiquituous Jayne Cobb hat for my dad in Knitting: Completed Projects by feistymonkey on: February 25, 2008 01:51:21 PM
He insisted on being very dignified for the picture. In his defense, it was summer when I finished it, and I made him put it on for photo ops after he had rolled around under a car all day in 90 degree weather; wearing a winter cap was not something he could take seriously at the time!

I used this pattern: http://dryope.typepad.com/grove/2006/02/jayne_cobb_hat_.html and slightly off color yarn. The closest stuff I could get without online ordering in an appropriate color was way too itchy, so I went with this and promised him that his would be even uglier than the one on television. He seemed pleased.

14  oil pastel boyfriend in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by feistymonkey on: February 24, 2008 11:02:59 AM
This is only the second oil pastel that I've done. It looks like there are patches on his shirt that aren't covered as thickly, but that is just some scanner weirdness. They aren't there in person.
