761  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Super Mario Brothers Party on: May 30, 2010 09:45:10 PM
soooo amazing! I can't wait to have kids that I can make all sorts of crafty and dorky things for!

Also, you may want to take the beginners wilton cake decorating class if you live near a michaels. It's like $40 (plus I think a $20 kit that you get to keep all the supplies) but it was amazing. I learned to make my own icing, which is all the difference between professional looking and not. Your design looks great, but that might be the extra touch you need. (Or google the info, that would probably work too lol)

I absolutely wanted to have a mario bridal shower...but my grandma said it was too weird....

Those look so great! Is it a bidding system or more like a dealers room where you have a booth and set a flat price for everything?
764  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Wheel of Time / Robert Jordan swap? on: April 25, 2010 05:17:11 AM
I would join! Particularly if it's later in the summer. My wedding is a month away and I'm missing out on all these great swaps right now.

Since it is so far into the future and I'm super busy right now, could a beg a PM off someone when this opens up?

There's a neat trick that you can do with the first round.

"Now you insert your hook in the center hole. (The hole will stretch as you go, though it may still be rather small, depending on what size hook you chose for the project.) Then work a double crochet around the foundation chain loop. (Note: If you want to, you can crochet over the loose strand dangling there. This is a good habit to get into for when you begin changing colors and will have a lot of ends to sew in.) This is the second dc of your first shell since the chain always counts as the first dc of each round. "

That's out of this tutorial. I just quoted the whole bit for context. It's so amazing because the ends are mostly in at that point.

How big is that?! I bet it will look amazing!

One thing that I've noticed - be uber careful with your tension. I'm sure you know if you've made these before but I could have used the reminder. This is my first really big project and my first 30 squares are at least a half inch shorter than the rest. >.< I still haven't decided if I want to remake them or added a layer.
768  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Would these sell? on: April 21, 2010 05:14:08 AM
I agree with looking into the legality. Also search the prices more carefully. I think you could sell the PDFs for as much as $5 or more if they're sets. I'm not 100% on the current rates though.

I know I buy precut circle images for buttons on etsy for $3 for a sheet, and they usually are just found images, not highly edited.
769  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Would you pay $25 with free shipping for one of these? on: April 21, 2010 05:10:36 AM
There's a few ways to decide price, and asking random people is not one of them. Smiley I wouldn't pay more than $!5, but that's because I'm not into buying amiguriyumi. People don't really care about free shipping (though free with another item can lead to more items selling)

I suggest searching etsy forums for the formula you like. I go with figuring out cost of the item +the hourly wage I want for the little things. That's a little harder, because do you pay yourself for etsy time? shopping for craft supplies? etc. Plus I'm on 80+ hours for a blanket I'm making that I would probably sell for only $80.

The other one that I've seen is cost of supplies x3 or x4 (I cant remember which). Either way the last thing you want to do if under pay yourself because you'll burn out. Besides, I've seen lost of etsy posts from people who raised their prices and ended up with more sales because it gave their items the appearance of being more "professional" -or something. Smiley

Good luck!
770  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Another BENTO swap! on: April 20, 2010 12:44:18 PM
I would do it if the send out time was a week later. I'm getting marring May 22nd, so I don't have a lot of free time for the next month.
