1  A pink-and-orange quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by pinx on: April 05, 2008 09:50:38 PM
So this is my first posted project.  It is about 4' by 5', machine-pieced and hand-quilted.

This quilt is all about the fabrics!  Most of them I collected from when I worked at a fabric shop that sold silk, cotton, and linen including many hand-dyed pieces.  The bits with butterflies and dragonflies are hand-dyed linens, some of which I re-embroidered for contrast.  There are also pieces of silk dupioni, silk/rayon brocade, silk/rayon velvet, and cotton batik, among others.  The two borders and the back are all cotton batik and the binding is cotton too.  I hand-quilted the whole thing with purple thread and I went around the inside of each shape, and filled in some of the larger shapes with extra quilting.  I also embellished some of the shapes with embroidery.

Unfortunately it came out a little crooked but oh well.  Now I just hope I have a baby girl at some point.  Thanks for looking and comments are appreciated.

The whole thing

I satin-stitch embroidered on top of the butterfly that was already there.

I modified a leaf picture from a quilting book I have and embroidered it on this hand-dyed silk/linen fabric.
