3  My first colours in Knitting: Completed Projects by moonshae on: January 06, 2011 04:59:09 AM
It's 11:55pm 6th Jan in Australia and I'm finally finished my first colorwork project with 5 minutes to spare!! I ripped these out a total of 5 times and actually kept going, which is a record for me so far. Much praise to knitty and youtube for advice on it all. And, of course, to Craftster, whose challenge inspired me to knit a woollen accessory in the middle of summer. Can't wait til it's cold enough to wear these...

Things learnt: colour work! italian tubular cast on! kitchener stitch tubluar bind off!

Knit with Bendigo Woollen Mills sock yarn in the Endpaper Fingerless Mitts pattern by Eunny Jang in a size Large (http://www.eunnyjang.com/knit/2006/11/endpaper_mitts.html).

The insides...

The outsides...

Both together. Still to be blocked.

4  Re: 12 Days of Christmas 2009 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by moonshae on: December 14, 2009 12:32:44 PM
Reserved for moonshae

Day 12 - Gift tags. Great minds think alike I suppose *g* They've already been in used in a great gift wrapping a-thon with my housemate last night.

Day 11 - Fabric covered buttons, an almost kit! This is getting sooo freaky because I was sooo close to giving fabric covered buttons to EnchantedIndigo for Day 11 as well.... I even bought some (but then I lost them Sad) crazy man!

These are sooo being made up for my Christmas outfit I'm currently making!

This is not swap related, but I'm excited by this crafting update - Australian laws are being amended so soon I'll be able to bring knitting needles on planes! I'm not planning on flying anywhere anytime soon but *happy dance* I'm sure you crafty people out there understand my glee

Day 10 - Stitch markers. I'm not how well the colour comes up, but they are a lovely deep purple

Day 9 - Matchbook notebooks that match my Day 12 gift tags

Day 8 - Bath day. Three lovely soaps, Honey Oatmeal, Sparkle and Brown Sugar. Apparently they've been tested on Husband, Family and Friends. Three milk bath bags. Two scented sachets, one in vanilla cinnamon clove, one vanilla nutmeg clove. Mmmm christmas spice!

Day 7 - my favourite Christmas memory was of a breakfast that my housemates and I had one year and EnchantedIndigo gave me a Christmas breakfast kit to remind me. It is awesome. Truly.
Included where some napkin/name plates
Tea! The rooibos/almond was taken to work but here we have Jasmine Green
A hot chocolate mix I can smell before I've opened the package *drool*
And a German pancake mix (with English instructions)
And there was a spice/herb mix for making mulled cider or wine, but customs objected to it Sad

Day 6.... cookies! nom I have a recipe for sugar cookies and an icing recipe and a icing piping bag, sprinkles of GIANT proportions (seriously, we don't get them that big here!) and some cookies to eat while baking. YUM.

Day 5 is awesome. A hanging toiletry bag, a medium bag, a small bag, a tampon cosy and a tissue holder all in beautiful fabric.

Day 4, also in perfect fabric, a giant pincushion with matching wrist pin cushion (which fits beautifully), a needle case in a tin, all in a Christmas bag. I sooo needed that wrist cushion!!

Day 3 - Christmas stocking for mother, sister and boyfriend.

Day 2 - a stocking for ME and santa filled it with chocolate Santas, a peppermint stick and more TEA. I love tea. AND a kit to knit two pairs of socks!

Day 1 was my big wish item and it's absolutely perfect! A jewellery picture frame with a knitted "picture" bit to hang my earrings on! THANKYOU!!! I've already put it to work!

5  Re: I <3 Coffee/Tea Round 6 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by moonshae on: June 05, 2009 12:20:13 AM
I recieved from Dharma_rebel today. And it's COLD in Melbourne so I'm glad some supplies made it through customs

who left me some interesting literature

This cute little mug cosy is sooo adorable and it the same design of craftster tshirt I want (one day)

This GIANT magnet is great too. It says "Mrs Abernathy's Tea Room in Twickenham, England serves scones with strawberry jam, clotted cream and 73 types of tea". All together??

Tea! Group shot of Lindsay's Blac de pom pom (white tea with pomegranate), Earl Grey Red Flower (chinese black tea with bergamot oil and red flower) and a cute little green mango tea at the front

Green tea mints! Lychee and Lemongrass

and my favourite - HONEY! Flavoured honey even. Not sure how banana honey will taste with tea, but I'm going to find out!

EDIT:: OMG I completely missed that my coffee cosy is REVERSIBLE!??! Luckily the Boyfriend was squeeing less over the tea that I was. It's freakin awesome!

Thankyou! It's all fantastic!

6  Re: Fill A Purse Swap Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by moonshae on: May 24, 2009 09:47:04 PM
I just recieved from Sweety and yay!

A group shot:

The purse, in my favourite purple (not so blue as my camera wants it to be)

The circles on the centre pocket is actually a brooch so I can coordinate my other things to my bag

Inside was a covered note book and bookmark (made of gum wrappers?)

A keyring and cellphone charm (love the crazy green bunny)

Israeli candy! Yum! Can't read it which means I'm forced to eat it to find out.

And last but not least:

Prayer shawls (?) in two shades of purple with silver stripes. They're making my dressmakers dummy look much more stylish at the moment.

Thankyou! this was a great fun swap

OMG I was soooo utterly spoiled by the partner who I can't work out who it is until I go through the forum posts again.... The package was listed as containing "dolls" and the card was a Winne the Pooh card..... hmm....

I got an apron to wear during my sewing classes (terrible photo because it's SLIGHTLY too long and there's well, um, my boobs don't normally look like that!) The picture ruins the colour - it's a lovely deep purple with a herringbonish stripe to it. And so soft!!!

A mug cosy! I've never seen one constructed like this, four padded 'cells' and you tie it on with string. Perfect for giant mugs like I have!

A tshirt directly off my wists that I'm wearing to my couture sewing class on Saturday "You are not the clothes you wear" mwahaha! It's fits perfectly!

A _giant_ knitting needle roll to support my newish crafty hobby. *happy dance* it's BEAUTIFUL!

And finally? Yes there's still more... Dr Who marble magnets!!! That photographed terribly. No close ups worked. They're both old and new Dr Who. They work so well with my fridge!

THANKYOU thankyou thankyou! This is definately my bestest swap parcel EVER! You completely rock!

I recieved from tattoocrafter yesterday.

A polyclay kitten eaten/trapped by a ball of yarn. His head came off in the post but it should glue on fine. Don't click the thumbnail! that's one hell of a blurry photo... my camera didn't like the closeup.

Stamped cards! They have a flower and either a cute giraffe or a cat hiding in grass.

Merry belated Christmas all!

Reserved.

On Day 12 deadbathducky gave to me... cookies! OMG were they tasty

On Day 11 deadbathducky gave to me.... well I admit today's picture and item was put with yesterdays and I ate them last week. Because I'm gluten intolerant and she gave me gingerbread cookies. Do you KNOW how LONG it's been since I had GINERBREAD COOKIES? These were gingerbread gift tags but, well, they didn't last long enough to be tagged onto a gift.

On Day 10 deadbathducky gave to me... cards that don't photograph well at all because they are 3D!! Not all 10 were photographed.

Day 9 was scented day! I got two candles (1 mint, 1 vanilla), 2 insence (1 vanilla, 1 cinnamon), scented teas (mmmmm chai) and a beautiful candle plate thingy thrown by deadbathducky!
(Sorry for the blur!)

On Day 8 deadbathducky gave to me
A Hello Kitty pouch and a stuffie owl keyring. Perfect for my new bag!

Earrings! Yay! I like the day of the dead style skulls

A TARDIS necklace shown with the pretty box everything came in.

But to out nerdy the TARDIS, I also got (but didn't photograph) recipes to make World of Warcraft food! And she even rewrote them gluten free style! Batwings anyone?

Day 7 deadbathducky gave to me grocery bags

And to break the gifting up here's what some of my work colleagues did with their day. Wrapped things. Computers, pens, post its, keyboards, whatever they found on this poor guys desk...

Day 6 was pottery

Day 5 was kind of random including a tshirt for my boyfriend, books and a heat pack

On Day 4 deadbathducky gave to me dvds and popcorn. Nomnomnom. Now I know how I'm hiding from the increasing temperature....

On Day 3 I got three pattern books, two for bears and 1 for dog coats

Day 2 I got a woodburned picture of a dolphin and a folio bag. Pictures to come when I'm back home from family

Day 1 I got a white cardy made by deadbathducky's Grandmother. It has cables! they look difficult.

Merry Christmas everyone

10  Re: Yarnies Scavenger Hunt 2 ~ Gallery of Goodness ~ in The Swap Gallery by moonshae on: September 03, 2008 01:27:02 AM
OMG the guys at the post office know me. I dashed over there as soon as I realised that my parcel had arrived and they were closed and getting in their car. But, as I am known, they went back inside and got me my package!!! How cool is that?

Perlabella and I had several PMs of "i hope you don't hate my package!" in our swap anxiety and oh there is definately no hate...
a blurry photo of anticipation...

Something local, a postcard of NY

Something blue - a blue tin containing a mini cat amigurumi and some blue L-shaped post its!
Sender's choice - a penguin!

Something squishy - a hearthstone shaped wrist rest for my World of Warcraft sessions - stolen by my boyfriend already!

Something flexible - Red Heart yarn in a luscious deep purple. I wish you could get Simply Soft and Red Heart in Oz Sad

Something unusual - a Blood Elf (more WOW nerdery!) mini pillow

Something starting with C, my favourite of the bunch (sorry penguin) is crochet stitch markers in the bestest colours for me ever

This has been great! Applause to everyone for such awesome packages!
