1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Princess Baby Quilt (pic heavy) on: January 14, 2009 05:43:39 AM
My mom made this one and gave me permission to post it. It's the first custom quilt she's made. She does applique too but this one is embroidered. (The room is my daughters and since the colors matched the quilt, we photographed it there)

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Finished another piece! Bead Woven Necklace on: April 29, 2008 12:47:47 PM
This is a pattern by Sandra D. Halpenny (she has a great site!). Fun stuff!

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Getting permission to sell items made with patterns... on: March 13, 2008 04:27:36 PM
Is it hard to get permission from the designers? What if the copyright note says "Please do not create this item for sale without prior permission. " Does that mean permission is likely to be granted if you ask? How do you ask a designer for permission? Just a simple "May I use your pattern to make items to sell?" or is it more formal than that? I'm extremely crafty but lack in the creativity department (figures!) so I'd love to ask for permission from a few designers who's work I adore to sell items made with their patterns but I don't know where to start? Has anyone ever done this before?
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / My first beaded item! Beadwoven bracelet... on: March 04, 2008 03:03:51 PM
I saw a kit for this bracelet at walmart and decided to pick it up to see if I like beading. I love it! I can't wait to try some more projects! I already ordered a necklace kit and some books on French Beaded Flowers since I adore those! Here is the bracelet (minus the loops for the closure!)...

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How to get started... on: February 19, 2008 12:01:58 PM
My mom and I love crafting. My mom loves quilting baby quilts and sewing baby clothes mostly although she loves many different crafts and although I haven't been crafting very long I have found that not only do I love it but am very good at pretty much all the crafts I've tried so far. So we've been thinking about starting to craft for money but neither of us think we'd be very good at the business aspects such as finding and registering at craft fairs, flea markets, starting a website, etc. Do any of you sell your stuff to someone else who then turns around and sells your items (probably for more) for you? Especially right now with things being kind of stressful (we both are in the process of selling our properties, having houses constructed for us and trying to sell a property I just inherited from my father in NYC while we are out in NC) we just don't have time for more stress as the crafting part is our stress relief but trying to sell it all would be more stress! So I just wondering how to go about finding a "middle man" so to speak. Thanks!
