133  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Sock Squid! on: February 26, 2008 03:20:41 PM
O thank all the gods of crafting! Cheesy

My freind has recently gotten obsessed with squid plushies (i don't think even she knows why...) and ive been trying to find a pattern I could do; the tentacles were the part that tripped me up, she wants a small and cute one so the tentacles have to be even smaller. but using socks? ready made tubes just waiting to become tentacles!
Thank yooouuuu...

134  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Roadrunner costume on: February 26, 2008 10:20:28 AM
Technically this isn't a Halloween costume but this seemed the most appropriate place for it since it is a dress up costume. We had a house party last year where everyone had to come as their favourite childhood cartoon character.

And I went as Roadrunner! How could I not?
Bought the top and skirt at a charity shop
Found some bright yellow leg warmers
attach from feathers to bum
apply blue paint to body liberally
and Voila!!

MEEP MEEP!

You know when your a craftster when alternative uses for bottlecaps keeps you up at night! I glued pictures to mine and glued them to buttons (search 'anime bottlecap buttons' if you want to see them, i have yet to figure out how to add a link to another topic Embarrassed )
I thought of:
turning them the wrong way up and using them as tiny photo frames
a baking tray in a dolls house
childrens play money (file down the sharp bits and draw 10p and 20p on them)
EDITWindchimes! This person I lived next door to made a windchime out of spoons which was very cool.

Cool boxes, your daughter must be chuffed! Smiley
This link is what I meant by the popper buttons, they're more usually called snap or safety buttons.

ooo you're so lucky getting all those free pics from work! I only had my hoard 'cos Bought Neo obssesivley for three years. Incidentally, I don't know if this would work but maybe you could put those metal poppers on the back of the bottlecaps so that when you needed to wash the jacket you could pop em off?

Let me know how it goes, its so intruiging to see your ideas venturing out into other people's heads... Wink

So cute! Ha, if you had a car with a button for lock/unlock you could put it in his head or something so that you could press his head to unlock your car!! That would be worth the trouble just for the looks you would get! Grin
