The walls are up, and heaven help us, we're moved in.  Now I just have to finish insulating, paint, and make this shell a home.

Those are vintage 1950's Beauty Craft metal cabinets.  I LOVE my 50's retro kitchen.

The bathroom is functional after 4 weeks occupancy:

But I still need walls and insulation.  So first the upstairs plumbing has to go in.  Still, a hot bath is a luxury I will never take for granted again.  I plan murals for this room.  I call it the Bathroom of the Sun, the theme is Victorian Dawn.  Probably Impressionist or classical Greek...likely a mix of both.  The tub is getting my interpenetration of  Monet's Irises painted on the blue sides.

One bedroom is mostly done, Downstairs Guestroom #2.  It is in use by DH, me, and the baby.  The boys prefer to sleep on the sofa where it's cooler right now.



The closet needs doors, trim needs to get nailed up, and the celling board put up, but the water and gas took top priorety for the last month.  I'm still living out of boxes.

If only!!! I think what I have is an Australian made cheap 50s kitchen cupboard. I'm sure it's worth something, but not nearly as much as a Hoosier! haha...I would love to be able to sell it and reap some profits, especially as I got it for free, but I just love it way too much to part with it!

If it isn't a lost treasure, then it would make one heck of a kitche hipster liquor cabinet/bar.

This is a wig on e-bay, but more importantly, it shows all views.  I printed it off and went to the local Beauty Shop for a cut and perm yesterday.
I had grown out my hair for the last 4 years and cut it off for Locks of Love last May.  It has grown out some, but was in that ugly, do nothing stage.



3 hours later I had this.



But with the perm drying my hair, she couldn't get the waves to fall quite right.  I knew it would be better after a good conditioning though.  This morning I washed it, conditioned the hell out of it, and styled it with bobby pins - no setting gel.  I think it did all right.  It's held its shape all day.  It will be even better when I pick up some rollers and sleep on them.

I wanted something prettier and less likely to catch greasy dust than my old curtains in the kitchen.  My house is 107 years old and I think it generates it's own dust by the hour.

When we move, I'm going to wind up taking them with me I think.

Well it all started when the lawn mower threw a rock through the window...   I'd already done my bathroom glass (can be seen in another post here) so I had an idea of what to do.
I had DH cut me a replacement glass while I drew out my design on a clean grocery sack.  The center moon used  a roll of duct tape as a template, and the other moons are cream of mushroom soup can sized.  I used a ruler to lay out the grid lines around them and gathered leaves from the yard and traced them around the moon.  A few random stars and I was ready to go to the glass.

I set the clear glass on top of the paper pattern and traced it through using the Liquid Leading (Great Glass Brand paint from Michaels for most areas and an off-brand I can't recommend for the leaves.  It cracked as it dried) and allowed it to dry - not quite long enough because some of the lines shifted when I added color.  Then I poured the colors into the appropriate areas and allowed to dry throughly.  If you stand it up too soon the color will slump down over several hours so let it dry at least 24 hours.

Then my husband installed the new glass with the painted side to the storm window.  It is directly over the sink and subject to a lot of moisture (he'd already replaced the storm window glass so we weren't open to the elements the whole time) and Voila!  "Instant" stained glass window.

One hint, buy waaaay more paint than you think you'll need.  It takes a thick layer to get a nice even color as you can see in some of the color cells.  I will use more on the next one.

I did this for a friend.  It has 7 mink tails on a leather and stud handle.  One of the more unique commissions I've undertaken.

My son wanted a Jack t-shirt for his 5th birthday, but didn't like any of the ones we could find for sale.

So I got busy combining images on the computer and made one he liked.  I then drew it out on the shirt in sharpie marker....lots of sharpie marker.  It has faded somewhat with washing, but he still loves it...and bonus, it's one of a kind.



And many moons later, this is the somewhat faded but stable image...he'll be 7 in May.

This is a hat with beading and a veil attached that I did for Myra Walker's accessories class at UNT 1000 years ago.  I used this photo for my business card.
It is fabricated, sewn, and glued on a feather boning frame.  I still need to line it someday.

My bathroom window looks out onto an added laundry room.  I got tired of looking at the washer so I faux-stained glassed the window.  The art is my interpretation of an illustration from a Scott Cunningham book.

This is a more romantic set of candle shades for my bedroom.  Photoshopped art printed on vellum and wrapped around a small canning jar with a tea light.  I make the shades about 1/4inch bigger than the jar they sit around so the air gap keeps the vellum from scorching.

 





I did these over X-mass.  They're Dover clip art photoshopped, printed on white/silver vellum, taped and set around a half-pint canning jar with a tea light candle.
