My final year at school saw a lot of ups and downs, a lot of spare minute sewing, agreeing to make things for people completely last minute, making really crap things and things I will treasure for the rest of my life.
I've now moved 3 hours away to Brighton to start my Art Foundation before hopefully going on to study fashion with business at Brighton uni, who'd have thought it.
For those of you that saw my year 11 prom dress, this feels like a step down. I wasn't completely happy with it, I loved the idea (helped greatly by my friend, and alice in wonderland) but for various reasons, nothing was quite perfect.
Though when you've got to contend with making 2 dresses in under a week, a wedding dress, tonnes of other random things, plus a petticoat for a friend... I think I coped well enough.
Anyway, my beautiful friend Amie, helped me think up of this idea, as well as the styling - god I'm going to struggle without her for inspiration.
Me and my sister
With my textiles buddies (there were only three of us)
With one of my best friends (you may remember from first prom dress, he was one of the crew
Another best friend from back in the day, and still now, I made her petticoat with about a week to spare
Okay, if you want to know how i made it, I created the whole pattern from scratch, it's boned, got a double layered petticoat, and on the back there is a little bow that I have no pictures of. I had to make a lot of alterations, I lost weight between starting my pattern and prom, so though it was finished about a week early, I spent up to the last day trying to tuck it so that it didn't look rediculous on my lack of chest.
I'm hoping it looked better in real life than the photos, but anyway, let me know what you think
