1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Tea Anyone? on: November 24, 2009 06:28:54 AM
I wanted to post a picture of my daughter this Halloween as the Mad Hatter.  The hat was too heavy for a 2 1/2 year old to wear, so we only had her wear it for a quick photo shoot and she had another outfit for trick or treating.  I wanted to incorporate some of her characteristics into the costume, so it helped that she has Mad Hatter hair and the tooth gap!  I used a great tutorial from another website to make the hat (not sure if I can post it here??).  The hat's structure is made entirely of card board and most of it was from one cereal box.  Thanks!  Annie

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Understated Freezer Paper Stencil Shirt for Hubby on: December 12, 2008 05:34:40 PM
Thank you for your kind comments Smiley  Yes, I did cut out the design first using an exacto knife and then ironed it on the shirt...but I should mention I laid an old pillowcase over on top of the stencil before ironing.  I slowly peeled it off after I let the paint dry for about 2 days.  I think the trick is to paint inward so that you don't force paint under the stencil edges if that makes sense.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Understated Freezer Paper Stencil Shirt for Hubby on: December 11, 2008 05:38:26 PM
I made this freezer paper stencil tshirt for my hubby and I think it turned out well!  He likes unusual clothing, but nothing too flashy.  I found this brown shirt (a little heavier than a regular tshirt) at the Goodwill.  I printed off the "Om" symbol from the Internet and used freezer paper to stencil it on (first using black fabric paint and then I sponged on gold).  Thanks for looking!

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Personalized, Concert T-Shirt for Dad as a Homemade Father’s Day Present on: June 13, 2008 11:16:28 PM
I know I should be in bed, but when craftiness strikes!  I wanted to make my hubby something personalized for Father's Day and decided on a shirt.  I wanted to make something he would possibly wear, even if it was just around the house.  So, here is my Father's Day concert shirt!

The pic is our daughter and Davis Nation is sort of our family motto  Smiley  I made this image sepia tone once I pdf'd the image because I put it on a brown shirt (found for $1 at the GoodWill, yea!)  I also made one for my brother-in-law that will be visiting so he can join in the fun/embarrassment.  It is the same except his "band" is SAY UNCLE!  This one is on a grey tshirt.

Do you think they will wear them or do they look too silly?  Thanks!  Annie

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Re: Hawaii in a Box! on: May 10, 2008 09:44:53 PM
The store is called the Barefoot Hawaiian in Des Plaines, IL.  There is also a restaurant down the street called the Tiki Terrace (I think they are connected in some manner).  Thank you for looking at my pics...I know it isn't too crafty, but I think my MIL will like it  Grin

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Hawaii in a Box! on: May 08, 2008 08:07:47 PM
I had seen some examples of "_____ in a box" gifts, so I decided to make "Hawaii in a Box" for my mother in law for Mother's Day since she was born there.  The best thing about this project was I found that a store specializing in Hawaiian items was less than 20 minutes from my house (I live in NW suburbs of IL...go figure).  I bought many of the items, but I made the cover of the little notebook and the postcard with my daughter on the front.  It was a fun challenge to find items that would fit my theme.  Thanks for looking!
