51  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Re: First ever embroidery project, done! on: May 02, 2008 09:50:41 AM
Good job! Grin

When I finish off I usually just weave the end back through the stitches on the back and cut it off.  I don't knot it. it gives it a cleaner look.  If you care about those things. LOL.  Wink

Do you ever have a problem with it loosening up or coming undone?  I really like the sound of this way better than knotting it.  I HATE knots! hehe

I feel ya, guys.  I started stitching yesterday.  I've been practicing on the bird and the angel from the Karl Halsley (sp?) patterns.  I plan on fancying up some canvas grocery bags for more practice.

I agree that there are ALOT of dull patterns.  What I've been doing lately is looking for vintage patterns.  They seem to be alot more interesting that what they have around today.  Plus, with at least 6 decades worth of patterns to look through, you're bound to find something you like!  So far I've bought about 6 patterns from the 50s and 60s and they've been in great condition.  I can't wait to get started on them!

Does anyone know where to find pearl snap buttons for a western type shirt?  I've searched all over the place and can't seem to find anything even close!
