This one is a bit different because I picked a colour theme, I got the frame from a local charity shop (I was trying to find one to fit the first pic I made!  )

What do you think? Do you like the one colour theme? (DH wasn't impressed and said I should use all the colours!)

It is A4 card and a punch I borrowed from my mum's collection.

I still need a frame for it and I have lots more butterflies cut out to make some more    I'm not sure if it would look better on black card (my mum didn't have any left that I could pinch) I might try that next.

Any comments appreciated.

Just a bit of background info, I made this set for my Dad, he is an electronics engineer and draws circuit boards on a regular basis, hence my odd choice in fabric. I find getting fabrics I like for men in my family a nightmare!

I apolgise for the poor pics, it was late when I finished sewing these so the light was bad.

2 sandwich wraps and 2 flip top bags. I wanted to make more and some other stuff but there was a few flaws in the fabric

The circuit board is from a ZX Spectrum which was one of the first computers we ever owned in our house

My sister was that impress by the rucksack I made for my nephew (her son) she ordered one for her little girl for Christmas. 

She picked the XOXOXO the cat fabric and we were going to make the bag in denim but once I got the cat fabric it didn't look quite right. Luckily I had some lovely grey cord sitting around that matched perfectly!

I then had to decide what to do on the front pocket so I copied one of the cats heads and appliqued it in felt 

The pics aren't great because it was dark when I took them, but here we go:-

I know these have been done loads but I was quite proud that I actually got round to making them! 



This shows one flat, one folded up  - it doesn't have a  pocket I just folded it into itself, and a mini one for the kids.

I did discover that the plastic bags in the UK are a lot smaller than the US ones so these come up small. They are ok but need to be a little bit bigger especially in the handles. So I had another go and made the pattern bigger this time.



I am taking part in a Secret Santa and this is part of the gift. The tortoise is felt applique and it was copied from here http://paper-and-string.blogspot.com/ (I hope she doesn't mind  )

Once the Christmas present rush is over I intend on making lots more of these, I have been given lots of curtains to make them

Where are the best places to find out of print or hard to find fabrics?

I have tried ebay but the only seller that has what I want only has FQ's (already cut) I really need a yard or so uncut.

Is there somewhere I can post a wanted ad to see if anyone has any spare?

I made teacher survival bags for my sons teachers as an end of year present 
It was just a small tote bag filled with nice things they might like to help them recover from teaching a class of 4/5 year olds!

And the contents:- a lavender pillow, tissue cozy, small bottle of wine, chocolate and I added a bath bomb after I took the pictures

After seeing a camera bag someone else made on another forum I frequent I decided to have again and make one for a friend for her birthday. 

It is a simple messenger bag style with removable padded inserts to protect the camera. The bag can used as a normal messenger bag if the padding is removed.

It is made with home dec weight faux suede, lined with a shower curtain (I wanted some kind of waterproofing and this was the best I could come up with at short notice ) The padded bits were made with foam from an exercise mat my mum was throwing away and more faux suede, this time from a pair of trousers! The strap was cut from another bag because I was too lazy to make one!

There is a simple pocket on the front under the flap and a zip pocket across the flap.
