111  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: need suggestion: what kind of top for odd figure on: September 17, 2004 10:20:53 AM
Wrap top? That makes sense!!
I did a search and saw some wrap tops on the net. Although I never had one, looks like they will work for me. You're right. Looks like they're not that simple. I saw some with only the top part wrapped (the waist part is a tube), and some with the whole front open (wrapped and tied at the waist). Can anyone tell which type may be easier for beginners?

Also would it be easier for me if I skip the sleeves first? I'm afraid to sew sleeves since I've never done it before. I'm tempted to make a top without sleeves first (I can wear that around the house). If that works, can I add sleeves on later?

Hi Everyone, This is my first post. I tried search and couldn't find the answer.

I'm new to sewing. Bought some slightly stretchy fabric and would like to make a simply top, something fitted at the waist with no collar, no botton, noooo zipper, with sleeves (I am shy and don't wear tank top outside my home), and long enough to cover my belly. Here's the my first problem:

My waist and rib cage are small relative to my wide shoulder and butt. I tried to buy some stretchy tops & tshirt that're fitted at the waist. But I couldn't put them on from the shoulder, nor from the bottom without tearing the blouse or myself  Embarrassed.

Do you creative pros out there have any suggestions on what kind of semi-fitted top I can make so I can put on and take off without a sweat? I am a beginner and can manage only simple ones. Any design idea or links or pictures would help.

Thank ya!
