I have finally found that site I was looking so hard for. The one with the pretty butterflies.  It also has the templates for the three types of butterflies.
(I sure hope I'm doing this right...link....)

http://www.geocities.com/kraftproject/Instructional/heavenlybutterflies.html

It is a great site and explains everything better than I can.  It's where I learned to make my butterflies.
Hope this helps and that I'm not breaking any rules or anything.  Just wanna be helpful.

Dreambelle. gotta laugh at that.  While looking now for hours for that site I found an interesting amount of ways to recycle plastic bottles. Thank you for sharing.
SaphireFaerie...I know what you mean...I hoard glass bottles...If I remember correctly I got 3 butterflies out of one bottle.
Eliea. Hope I helped with the templates (with the link).  It also explains which paints.
BTW I got some of the black paint type for a faux lead affect.
Hope you post pics.  They are fun fast (not counting drying time--overnight)and a great conversation piece.

Thank you again for your comment.
funtobewith I used thumbtacks and just stuck 6 of them in the plastic.  You just need to paint the butterfly with the wings on the curve so that they come out right. You bend between the "body" and the wings to get the "flutter" effect.
CamOovas, that is one interesting kitten.  I once had heard of pickled people as a craft and searched it...I'll be more careful in my searches next time.lol.
I'm still searching for that site I mentioned.
Cheers!! and thanks

Thank you all so very much.  You all are so kind.  You all give me courage to post some of the other things I have made everyone here is so very talented.
To answer some comments.  First Panda!!! You are an angel!! That is exactly the site I was looking for.  It shows\describes perfectly.  I just made some adjustments.  There is another site also that I can't find.  Its an incredible site...all animated and shows even more beautiful butterflies...I'm still looking.
I didn't do all of these butterflies at once.  I did download the 3 pictures and multiple copied them and did three of the same at once cause that was the size of the bulletin board I had.
Also I need to give credit to stellato_escuro for posting that incredible site with another way to utilize plastic bottles.
Lmcbride, that is a wonderful idea.  I love butterflies (not many where I live...sad...so I made some)
I tried to make some with magnets but couldn't get them to adhere enough then the magnet was too small (body of the butterfly) to be strong enough to stick to the fridge so take that into account if you make them.
I got the suction cups at the $ store.
Thank you so very much for hitting the "hot" button.  I'm grateful.

A while back I decided that I wanted to do something with all of those soda bottles that we generate.  I only had green ones so I surfed and found a site (which I now can't find and wouldn't know how to add it here)  Sorry, I don't have any pics of the process.
It is basically cutting the straight part of the bottle with scissors, straightening them with tacks on a board.  Put the pic of a butterfly under and paint over it.  I used faux glass paint (that I had left over from a previous project).  I know it's been done before but if was fun and luckily.. time consuming.
Here are the "butterflies" drying after I put the suction cups on

Here they are on the door of my new craftroom

A bitty close up.

I do apologize for the poor quality of my pictures.  I'll just have to learn.
Anyone else done this?  Thank you for looking.

This is absolutely adorable.  I love this and your "cupcakes" came out perfect!!!  I love the happy side and the "ouch" side!!! I just love it. I wonder about the question from VeggieJess. How long do you need your hand in the oven before the beads melt?
I think the beads are perfect and would be a shame to have to change them.  Also if I could ask, I have access to lots of batting stuff.  The synthetic type.  Could I use this on this project or do you use all heat resistant fabric and batting (if there is such a thing.)
Great gift!!!

I hate it when I get a sweet craving and there's nothing to eat in the house.....How about just throwing some chocolate chips into the mix and make pancakes?  and maybe add less liquid add some brown sugar with the chocolate chips and make cookies from it?  Just a thought.
