2111  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: From used plastic soda bottles to butterflies on: May 10, 2008 10:24:39 PM
Thank you Eliea,  I'll have to go to a more hardware store and look for something more....industrial.  The only recognizeable glue in my craft store is modge podge.  For today, I want to try the glue gun.  That will solve some problems.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  Thanks!!

I thought about hot glue but was afraid it would be too hot for the plastic and I get those "tail" things.
I don't know what e6000 is, even asked DH.
Tomorrow morning I will try the got glue gun though.  Thanks!!

I can't wait to see pictures of the butterflies ya'll make.
I have real issues with the glue.  I still haven't found the right type that will hold the suction cups.  Also in my studio the temp. gets so hot that the glue is melting anyway. (During the hot weather we had a few weeks ago it got up to 40C so the glue just melted and the butterflies fell like they were fluttering to the floor.)

I like the green also.  The brown seems to "melt" into the carpet. (same shades)

This is simply a very very awesome table.  You did an incredible job with it.  Thank you for the tips and instructions.  I've wanted to use resin so many times but 1. afraid of the stuff and 2. can't find any. Great great table!!!

Hope you both post pictures of your projects.
I've also made rain chains from the cut off tops of the bottles--painted them with tempera paints (not easy) attached small chains.
also made little light things when we had a party at home once.  Used the bottoms and put tea lights in them.  They made a very subtle green glow on the green grass at night and people could see their way in the dark to the house.
At the kindergarden I used to work at would cut out the straight part...discard...then put a roll of toilet paper in the bottom part of the bottle, replace the spout part and pull the paper through that. Dispenser type thing. Very convenient when you have 28 runny noses.

It is really a good job.  I love the way she used the gumdrops to decorate it.  Hope it made a bundle!!
