2081  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Age old winner:Chocolate Chip Cookies on: May 22, 2008 07:39:12 AM
Thank you for your comments!!  I forgot to mention, excuse me, that I used the age old, original Toll House cookie recipe. If you can't find the recipe I'll be glad to post it (that's okay right? it's not mine.)
HSG, That sounds very very good.  I've never added bourbon to them..just sometimes pecans.  How much do you add to a recipe?  Maybe I can find some at a neighbors.
Again, thank you.

Thank you very much. I love strawberries.
kaleesi, come on over and it's yours!!  But from the time I posted and now my best friend came over (we are working on a project together) and she had a slice, and another.  Then another friend came over and had another...and it's the middle of a workday ...come and get it quick please. I need the bottom of the pan to bake DS birthday cake for tomorrow nite.lol

Thank you all for your nice comments and feedback.
lol raeonix about the googly eyes.
I made them from fabric thats right off the loom (don't remember what that's called) therefore the color.  I thought that it looked most like pita dough.  Cut out irregular circles used two cutout circles of batting and..overlocked them together.  There is a hole for one for his hand but I know him, he won't put it on his hand.lol but he will use them.
Thank you for your comments.  Now I'm trying to find yellow and black ribbon to "gift wrap" it. I'm such a PITA Mother.  Sorry, couldn't resist.
2084  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Pita Mits on: May 22, 2008 01:41:53 AM
My son has a birthday coming up and he has been wanting a pita oven for years.  Well the family decided to get him one finally.  Of course, I still had to put my two cents in so I made him a couple of pita mits so he doesn't burn his hands when he turns the platter.

Okay, it was supper simple to do but I still had to add something crafty to this.

Here you can see the "pita's" on the "turntable".  I think they look content.

(I know, I really need to be doing more serious crafting but couldn't resist)
2085  COOKING / Dessert / Strawberry Mirror Cake on: May 22, 2008 12:50:10 AM
I have been craving a strawberry "creamy" cake for ages so I've been looking and looking.  Then jennyrobot posted her masterpieces at
(hope I did that right).  Well, she inspired me to just go ahead and try.  She also was kind enough to post the recipe.
Of course, I had to make alterations cause I am no way near her class so here is my take on the Strawberry Mirror cake
This is the cake in the springform. (Sorry but there is no way I'm gonna show in progress...there was so much mess you couldn't tell anyway...I have a habit of using every dish in the house to cook.lol)

Fresh out of the springform pan

And the first slice

It was alot of work and alot of dishes and a heck of alot of cleaning up but all in all I enjoyed making it.  Now I get to give it away...I've had my slice.lol
2086  COOKING / Dessert / Age old winner:Chocolate Chip Cookies on: May 22, 2008 12:38:15 AM
I got a phone call after 9pm from DS that he needs to bring "something" to a meeting the following morning and they don't have anything at home to make anything. (I won't mention that they live 5 minutes from a great bakery--but Mom is Mom)
Anyway, the only thing I had on hand were chocolate chips so I hurriedly got busy and got goin'.

I didn't even have a proper dish to put them in....
Here I'm mixed and ready for the oven.

Now into the oven til just the right moment...slightly browned edges(otherwise they come out hard)

Take them out....Now!

Immediately take off the cookie sheet and put on grill for cooling then storage.
At least I got my bowl back even though it just had crumbs in it.lol
Hope you enjoyed.

Your birdhouse is beautiful.  I love the style.  I hadn't realized the possibilities of the woodburner.  lol, I would think twice about giving it away too.

Great cake.  I can see that it was very work intensive!!  Just the thought of icing that cake.  Great job.
2089  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Halloween Detritus: zombie hand crawling with pecan-caramel spiders on: May 21, 2008 10:30:33 PM
Absolutely gross.  Your hard work paid off.  A perfect Halloween prop!!! It had to be the hit of the whole area!!  Oh yuck!!  Just thinking of eating those spiders off that incredibly realistic arm. lol.  Great job and great foresight in seeing the potential.

Talented is right!!!  This is an incredible piece of art.  So good that it doesn't even look like a cake.  Beautiful.
