2061  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: New Thread Storage on: April 28, 2008 10:38:17 PM
Oh I love your box!!!  I used to store my spools in jars or bags. Your box looks like its made for those spools.

This is lovely.  I love your use of all the different textures.  It sure holds a lot too.

Thank you Kaissa.  I'm glad it brought back nice memories for you.  It was quite a "blast from the past" for me.

Wow!!! a whopping $4.99?  Looks brand new now.  Hope you find it comfortable for your spinning.
(You "hope" that was milk spilt.lol)  Great job!

Good grief, what an undertaking.  Looks good and sturdy enough to hold his collection.  But wow, that many?
I hope the floor holds.  Nice now you have little "windows" to put stuff in too.

Thank you all.  I didn't realize how popular Holly Hobby was.  When she was born we were all in love with the Little House on the Prairie on tv...she was supposed to be a boy and surprised us all when she came out a girl so of course I went all out.lol.  My Mom sent me yards of Holly Hobby fabric and I made her curtains, bed spread, sheets...oh it was fun. (poor kid)  My best friend even sent her HH outfits.  Thanks for sharing you guys!!
Of course, I still need to learn to take better photos.
2068  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Reupholstered Computer Chair (4 pics) on: April 28, 2008 08:15:34 AM
Thank you everyone.  I appreciate it.
vintageburlesque, I used to do crafts anywhere but I'd have to put everything back up the second I left them.  What a pain. If I left anything in my sittingroom\livingroom\family room then the whole place was a wreck things being so small and the family just didn't like Mom doing crafting all over the place.lol So I feel really blessed to have my own space now.  It's only 9 sq meters but feels like an auditorium.lol
craftydeb.  I know what you mean.  I don't know if I could have had the courage to do it if it had sentimental value.....this had been in a dusty ole office for years.  It wasn't hard at all in the end.  Just have a good staple gun and have a go at it. (That was great fun.lol)

I am tickled pink that I've finally figured out how to start a post I had wanted to share so bad.
Oh course the after picture isn't true to color.  Lots of baby blues and yellows in there.  Next thing to learn.lol
Thanks again!!
2069  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Reupholstered Computer Chair (4 pics) on: April 28, 2008 02:31:19 AM
I have just recently been "awarded" a craft space of my own. So I've been fixing it up, straightening up, repairing, trying to find a place for everything.  One of those things I've been working on is this chair DH brought me from somewhere.  It was full of dust, torn, just weird.
I took some fabric and...took off.  I have to say though that I was inspired to do so by the people here.
The "gift".

There must have been a million staples in this thing.  Literally rows of them.  I used a screwdriver and small pliers.

Then to be on the safe side I used the old fabric to cut out new pieces.

In the end, came up with this.

Thank you for looking.

2070  COOKING / Dessert / Holly Hobby Birthday Cake on: April 28, 2008 01:24:18 AM
This month my DD celebrated her birthday.  She asked me very politely if she could have two cakes this year.  A cheese cake and a....Holly Hobby cake just like I made her when she was 3.  Well, that gave me about 6 hrs to bake, cool, decorate find my well hidden tools and find something big enough to hold it.  Here is the result.  I didn't find anything big enough to hold it so I put foil on my kitchen wagon...Well it worked.

Oh, BTW, did I mention that my little baby celebrated her 25th?
It's been about 20 yrs. since I've done this cake but it was fun.
