1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Death of Rats on: July 01, 2005 12:47:06 AM
I just finished stitching Terry Pratchetts Death of Rats as a birthday present for my boyfriend. The poor rat isn't the prettiest of designs but perfect for any fan of Pratchetts discworld series.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Must have Craft books for Newbies. on: May 01, 2005 12:49:40 AM
Hi,

I thought it might be an idea for people to list must have craft books. It would help people like myself who have just started out on other crafts to expand their library with essential crafting books.

At the moment I have SNB Nation by Debbie Stroller. I don't have the first one as I think it is on a reprint over here but will buy it as soon as I can.

Stitch it Kit by Jenny hart which is a recent addition and I love it.

Cross Stitch Teddies by Joan Elliot which has lots of sweet teddy bear charts.

The best of Teresa Wentzler Fantasy Designs a good cross stitch book for fantasy or Teresa Wentzler fans.

The Snowman In Cross stitch by Leslie Norah Hills. This has a lot of great charts of scenes of the Snowman. Lots of ideas on how to use them and would make great Christmas gifts.

I have some more Cross stitch books but those are the best ones.

3  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Party Bag - SNB Nation on: April 30, 2005 03:28:30 AM
I made the party bag from SNB Nation. It wasn't until I had bought all the materials I needed that I realise that I needed another type of yarn to knit along with the other one. It means the one I made isn't fluffy. I liked the way it knitted up though. I like the feel of Jaeger. Next time though I will remember to get it. The beeds I used were also a little too large but I like them because the had glitter through them. It meant though that I couldn't attach them to the strap.

4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / First Journal on: April 30, 2005 03:24:21 AM
I finished making my first journal yesterday. I bought lots of nice paper to put in it. All of them have petal fragments in them but each type is slightly different. My favourite has leaves and actually smells like fresh cut grass. I have just tried out embroidery and so decided to decorate the cover with it. I wanted a nice summery theme because of the paper I used. So I bought some yellow fabric and stitched a hula girl to the front and palm trees on the back.

I did have more pictures but two of them wouldn't download into webshots. The covers I have also posted on the sublime stitching board so I apologise if you have seen them already. I am pleased with the way my first attempt worked out and I now feel confident enough to make one for my friends.

5  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Hula Girl and Palm Trees on: April 30, 2005 03:15:00 AM
Hi,

I made myself a journal and decided to decorate the cover with embroidery. I used the Hula girl and Palm Trees from Jenny Hart's stitch it kit. I am getting faster at this and more confident so I think that the next step is to try a different kind of stitch.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / First go at embroidery. on: April 26, 2005 04:10:47 AM
Hi,

After seeing everyones great results it encouraged me to pick it up myself. I bought the stitch it kit and got started as soon as it arrived. I found it a little difficult at first because I am so used to cross stitch. It's not very neat but hopefully that will improve with practice. I decided on the cat design for my first go because my mum loves cats. The yellow bow mathes her kitchen.

7  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Laptop bag on: April 22, 2005 04:28:41 PM
Hi,

Wasn't sure if I should put this under questions or not but since it's about something from stitch n bitch decided to post here.

A friend of mine has asked me to make her the laptop bag from stitch n bitch nation. I haven't mad a bag before and am worried that it won't be stron enough for her laptop. Does anyone have any experience with this one?

Thank you,

Karen Smiley

I am taking part in a birthday card exchange so I think I will use it in that.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Cross stitch bookmark on: April 13, 2005 07:49:11 AM
I organised a bookmark exchange on another group and yesterday I went through all my charts looking for one that would suit the person I was to stitch for. I came up with one and finished it today. I don't have to post it for another month but I couldn't resist getting started.
