1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Sew What Pro vs Embird on: December 16, 2015 07:08:37 PM
Forgive me, as I'm sure this has been asked here before. But I use the Tapatalk app on my phone and it won't let me search.

I just wondered if Embird has any big advantages over Sew What Pro? Just the regular programs, not including all of the add-ons for extra.

I have used the trials of both, and I just can't justify spending double for Embird unless it has some advantages over SWP that I didn't see/am not aware of. Thanks so much!

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Does this swap exist? on: November 10, 2015 04:47:18 PM
In an old forum we had a swap and you had the same partner for a whole year (Jan-Dec) and sent each other four packages within the year. One in Feb, one in May, one in September and one at the first week of December. Has anyone ever hosted a swap like that here? It requires constant checking in both with your partner and in the chat thread. But it's rewarding because you really get to know your partner during that year.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Multiple Christmas Ornament Swap on: September 18, 2015 06:55:55 AM
Just wanted to see if there would be any interest in this swap. You would make five of the same ornaments and send out to five different people. In return, you would get one ornament back from each of those people. So you end up with a neat assortment of ornaments to decorate with.
I'm thinking a time frame of crafting through October, then send outs would be the beginning of November. Some people like to start decorating early, and I want to give plenty of time for ornaments to arrive.

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Proud mommy moment.. on: August 21, 2015 05:42:12 PM
Just wanted to share my girls' first sewing lesson. They're learning a running stitch so that tomorrow I can show them how to sew two pieces of fabric together.

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Color swap? on: July 29, 2015 09:19:24 PM
So I've just recently returned to Craftster after an extended hiatus, so forgive me if this has been done or discussed recently in the past. And I wouldn't be able to organize it, but would anyone be up for a color swap? Everyone could choose their own color (or maybe a color combo, no more than two?) and we could make items based on a want/preference list. We could potentially even make it a holiday color swap, like for Halloween. Hmm, crafting yellow and red for Halloween could get interesting, lol.

6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Does digitizing at home make it useful for professional machines? on: August 31, 2009 03:26:10 PM
I need my logo digitized, and the embroidery stores here start at $60 to have it sent off to be digitized.. Just wondering if anyone here does that, or has used an online place to have anything done. I am downloading Sophie Sew right now, but the thing is I don't have an embroidery machine, so whatever I digitize will have to be taken to a professional. Does it matter what program you use to digitize, if I don't embroider it at home?
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Can someone show me how to do a crochet drop stitch? on: July 13, 2009 06:16:15 PM
I'm no expert at crochet, but I make my share of scarves every year. I really want to know how to do a drop stitch. I know it's usually done in knitting, but knitting makes me angry Smiley If there is anyone that could point me to a picture tutorial (I'm a visual learner, lol) I would really appreciate it. This is what I'm going for..

8  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Made some new stick pins.. on: April 09, 2009 04:45:49 PM

9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / What's the average startup cost for soapmaking? on: February 28, 2009 07:59:16 AM
CP or HP? I've always been interested in it, but lately my mother in law keeps bringing it up because she has goats. She keeps saying, "You and I should start making soap and lotion with the goats milk."

I love the idea, but neither she nor I have an idea of cost. Also, I haven't really started researching it yet, but is there a site maybe that shows everything you need to start with? Thanks in advance Smiley
10  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Any help for white clay? on: February 23, 2009 09:08:04 PM
No matter how hard I try, I can't keep my white clay clean when I'm working with it. My hands stay washed, anything I lay my clay on is clean, but it never fails. How do you all deal with this?
