I posted this under HeartofMary's thread as well, but thought it would be fun to add my own post.  This is a messenger bag I made for my trip to Vegas next week, using her tutorial, and some awesome casino/dice fabric I got off of Etsy.com.  It turned out really cute, and i am also making a wallet to hopefully post tonight after i take pictures once it is finished. Let me know what you think, and if you are thinking about trying this tute out... DO IT!  it is really simple, and i am not by any means a great sewer, the directions were clear and simple, and I LOVE IT!!!! Smiley

Here is the outside...

Here is the inside under the flap, with the two pockets and magnetic snap...

And this is the inside with small zipper pocket toward the top...

And bonus picture of my kitty - 'Meow' (her real name is Chloe... check out her pumpkin outfit in the home sweet home crafting for pets Smiley)

Thanks for checking this out... let me know what you think!

And thanks again to HeartofMary!!!!  Cheesy

YEAH I'm so excited!!!!  I JUST finished this bag!  I am going to vegas the first week of November, so of course i needed a 'Vegas Purse' so i found some awesome fabric from an etsy seller, and used HeartofMary's wonderful tute, and this is how it came out!!!!  There were a few points where i was like 'is this going to work' but it all worked out in the end.

Here is the outside hanging on my door...

Here is under the flap with the front two pockets and the zipper, which was sooo easy!

And the inside, there is a zipper pocket on the back side by my top finger, but you cant really see it

And a bonus picture of my kitty helping me Smiley

Like i said i am way excited about this, i know ill take it everywhere with me and it is the right size to take on the plane, and from casino to casino for sure!

Thank you HeartofMary! YOU TOTALLY ROCK, and thank you for the help!!!!!!

Thanks everyone!  I dont think she acutally minds it to much, it is not very tight and she can move around in it pretty well... it think that is why she likes it Smiley  AND it was fun to make! Maybe i should add a little green stem on top??

I have a quick question... is the zipper used for the top like a zipper you would use for a jacket?  then when it is all sewn would you just zip it up like a jacket, you know like putting the one end into the other then zip?  i guess i have never used one like that for a purse... so technically you could zip it all the way open if you wanted?

Please let me know... I'm confused and would like to make a bag like this... someday when i get a chance...  Huh

THANKS YOU!!!!  Grin
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: UGH! on: September 10, 2008 10:27:54 AM
Glad i could kind of help Smiley  I made another one this past weekend... it turned out really good... Also i made it reversable by leaving a whole in between the handles to turn it instead of at the bottom... that worked out really well too... just gotta make sure to press those seams down flat so when you top stich around the whole bag you catch the opening too... i also added pockets... my sister's friend LOVES it... from what i hear.  Let me know if you need any more help Smiley

Hey Groovy...

I tried this bag, and it worked out ok for me... i did think the strap was a little wide, but mine fit over my shoulder just fine.  I did print off another pattern for the strap, and cut about an inch off of one side, that helped not make it SO wide... also made one for my sister, but cut the dimensions of the bag part down a little so it wasn't so long, i am not very tall and it came down to my knees almost... good bag to fit a lot of stuff in.  I would try again, maybe cut the strap down, and the bag itself.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have questions, i have made 3 of these, each a little different tweaking Smiley
