2201  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Re: My first handmade stamps on: February 17, 2008 10:33:01 AM
if you get some enamel paint you could stamp on tiles and flowerpots and maybe even coffee cups.  but make sure it doesn't ruin your stamps (wash quickly or something).  and find out what you have to do to make the enamel permanent, maybe bake it or whatever.

2203  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Plastic flower tubes on: February 17, 2008 10:23:21 AM
Since they already have a little slit in the cap for the flower stem, what about putting christmas lights in them and gluing them together to make a light up wreath or light up clear tree or just a big hanging ball for your patio.

better use LED lights for safety, so they don't over-heat inside the plastic containers.
(there are LED lights in different shapes/sizes now.  i got some longish ones -that might stick through a slot in a rubber stopper- at hobbylobby this past year.)

make pendants or other jewellery/ornaments by filling with:
- sand (colors)
- beads
- fabric
- tissue paper(?!) or metallic papers or confetti
- random tiny objects, with or without resin(?)
- reverse-painting (if you have the right paint for the material they are made of, and the right kind of brush for reverse-glass-painting)

i think i have seen these ideas somewhere else (not sure where, except the beads one was something a student was selling at a college crafts sale, but in tiny glass bottles), i did not make up most of them.

2206  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Pincushion Shaped Peg Board for my sewing room!!! IMG HEAVY! on: February 17, 2008 09:56:11 AM
this is so fun!  the other day we were in a ROLY POLY (a sandwich wrap chain) and the ones around here have these great vegetable outlines on the walls - the tomato pincushion figure reminds me of those!

i looked on their website and can't find an example, but anyway imagine all different huge (ca. 3ft?) vegetables outlined (but each in only one color)... very cheerful.

makes me want to get my craft room set up soon...

for the coasters, maybe you could put them under glass or plexiglas on a table.

or turn into LARGE pins or pendants.

or attach magnets for fridge or magnetic wall or cabinet..  you can paint magnetic paint, then paint over with regular paint, and it makes a magnetic area.
