1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sparkly Jewelry Dish on: January 06, 2015 08:31:43 AM
I haven't posted in forever! I've made a few things here and there, but have definitely been in a major creative rut. Luckily, I've been feeling really inspired lately, and one of my goals for the new year is to be more crafty.
Yesterday I whipped up a simple jewelry dish, using things I already had in my supply stash -- small white plate, mod podge & glitter. I finished the whole thing off with a few coats of clear acrylic.
First completed project of 2015!

2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Baby Food Jars/Mini Jars on: July 20, 2014 11:14:03 AM
After bouncing around for a few years, I'll be moving into a new apartment with friends in a couple weeks. I've pretty much been given free reign for decorating the kitchen/dining area (Grin), and had an idea to repurpose tiny jars for bulk spices.
Does anyone know where I might be able to find them for free/super cheap? I'm located in the (San Francisco) East Bay (Fremont/Hayward/Union City) area.
Thanks for any leads! Smiley
3  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / pretty bird for my mama. on: July 22, 2011 12:46:30 PM
my mom absolutely loves hummingbirds -- we even each have a tattoo of one. she lives in pennsylvania, and they are one of the things she loves most about visiting california.
i stitched this up on a scrap of pretty fabric -- the L is for Lisa, which is her name. <3

4  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / pears for proenzas. on: July 22, 2011 12:42:30 PM
due to a wrist injury, i haven't stitched anything in a *looooong* time. now that i'm all healed up, i've been on a stitching rampage -- i've completed three projects in the past week!  Grin

i'm sending this tea towel off to my aunt and her family.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / the cage is too small for the heart. on: January 09, 2011 05:33:54 PM
first completed project of 2011!!
my goal is to finish one project a week

i used patterns from "embroidered effects" & vital organs.
(not sure if you can see, but there are tiny purple stitches on the red veins, for extra detail)
a lot of firsts here: my first post in a long time & my first attempt @ chain stitch.

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / goodbye necklace, hello sweater clip. on: July 11, 2010 09:27:58 AM
i got this awesome hello sailor necklace from work, but i already have a ton of necklaces. so, i took an old anchor charm (from another necklace i've never worn!), and made a sweater clip/brooch.

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / classy as f#@! -- cocktail napkins on: July 10, 2010 11:32:05 PM
i got a set of adorable cocktail napkins on clearance from target a couple of years ago, but could never decide what to embroider on them.

then i got the idea to stitch something vulgar, to contrast with the cute, delicate napkins. i was originally going to stitch really girly patterns, but decided to stick with simple statements & pretty accents.

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / jewelry board. on: December 31, 2009 04:28:23 PM
my small jewelry box is starting to overflow, and i needed a way to store my necklaces, without the chains getting all tangled.

so, i took an idea from bust magazine, and made a jewelry board.

i got a cheap bulletin board at target, painted the purple frame black & wrapped the cork in polka dot fabric.
i also coated a set of push-pins with black glitter.

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / apron storage help? on: November 13, 2009 10:54:39 PM
i recently moved into my first apartment.
i collect aprons, and over the years i have accumulated quite a few.
kitchen space is *extremely limited* -- i had to get a small shelving unit just to put food on, because there is minimal cabinet space. right now, all of my aprons are in a box, but i would love to have them closer to hand, and visible in some way.

does anyone have any suggestions for low-cost apron storage?

thanks!  Smiley
