Vdbonnet: I actually used an empty planter pot that was sold as part of a little seed kit in Target's dollar spot... the color was too perfect. So yeah, it was a dollar and I still have some tomato seeds that I can plant elsewhere!

My beautiful pet cactus, Cactus, is now officially a resident of cactus heaven. It was a good cactus, and I loved it as much as anyone has ever loved a cactus, but the Cleveland sun, especially the amount that comes through my window, was just not enough.

Cactus had been looking a bit peckish for awhile, but I kept hope that it was just having a dormant winter. But on Wednesday, its head popped off. Goodbye, Cactus.

My room and my heart are feeling rather empty, so I was compelled to make a memorial version of my beloved Cactus.

Much less alive and much more cuddly, the presence of Plush Cactus is slowly healing the prickly hole in my heart.

Cactus, in better times:

"If you are still offended or shocked, then honestly, you're the kind of person which I don't care if I offend or shock."

i like that statement.

that is quite awesome... i don't think i'd like to make something from a real fish myself because of the smell factor... but you did a fantastic job!

This would be incredibly simple to make. Start with the gray tank top, then make the black stretchy band in a size that fits you well. I agree that you want that band to be really good quality knit fabric... probably with some spandex. Then you'd just make your stripes, looks like they're twice as big around as the black band but they're all the same size around as each other. Then just stretch the black band like crazy as you sew the skirt part on, and you should be set!
