Battle/Challenge: September UFO Sighting
Team: Wordy
Bonus Points: Green! The one on top in the picture is green, even though it doesn't look much like it in the photo. Also it's good for the environment.
Project Name: Food Wraps
Link: http://www.diynatural.com/reusable-food-wrap-plastic-alternative/
Brief Description: Fabric from my stash, pinked into squares, with beeswax ironed into it to make reusable wraps for storing food, to use in place of disposables like plastic wrap, sandwich bags, and wax paper. I bought the beeswax and pinking shears a while ago for this project but never got around to it - until now!

Battle/Challenge: September Convention
Team: Wordy
Project Name: Dice bags!
Brief Description: Perfect for taking your dice to the convention so you can stay up all night gaming, or for bringing home the mysterious 24-sided die that the Game Science guy talked you into buying in the dealers' room. I designed this bag pattern for a tabletop game-themed swap a few years ago.
Project Picture:

The blue one with skulls is for me. The other two are for some friends, who just gave me my very own copy of A Feast of Ice and Fire.

I've started 2 other projects for this month too. This is the first one I've had time to finish!

I received a lovely, fragrant package from gingerpeachy!

Here it all is in the box:

A bunch of scented shea butter soap! My husband also appreciates this - he loves yummy-smelling soap too! The soaps are lavender,  cedarwood pine, lime cypress, and orange tea tree.

Lavender sugar scrub (I spent time in Provence as a small child so my love of lavender is deeply ingrained), aromatherapy spray that smells like vanilla, natural deodorant, and passionfruit rose lip balm!

Wild-harvested chamomile, and marshmallow root:

Thanks Ginger!!!!!!!

My partner Gingerpeachy has received her stuff, but she is super busy with awesome life stuff right now, so I offered to post pictures of the stuff I sent.

Firstly, a lavender-scented eye pillow, because as Ginger said, you can't have too many!

Then, a few tea-infused beeswax candles (I used this tutorial: http://ru-bees.com/blogs/news/7773787-making-herbal-tea-infused-beeswax-candles). One is Earl Grey Creme, and the other is lavender hibiscus. I had never made candles before!

I also made her a neck-warmer (or bed buddy or whatever). The outer sleeve is knitted washable wool, and the inner sack is muslin filled with flax, chamomile, and peppermint, with a little lavender essential oil.

I included some cleavers that I picked from the alley behind my house, and an herbal tea blend, in weird little tins that I found at the craft store!

I received my package today, and will be posting those pictures soon.

Pictures time! DeceptiveFragileness really found and made a lot of cool stuff!

So the box contained a kick-ass utility belt and a cute little burlap emergency bag - looks like a good size for a bike repair kit, perhaps...

All the pouches had cool stuff in them!

A scarf with awesome old cars on it, Cthulhu tentacle jewelry (!), and my favorite, a beautiful hood! The outside is soft black suede, and the inside is gorgeous brocade (I LOVE brocade). The photo of the hood doesn't do it justice - hopefully I'll be a better model than the skull when I do my action shots.

The backs of the pouches are brocade too. The big pouch has a ton of little sub-pockets inside.

Hooray! Thanks for the loot, deceptive.fragileness!

Behold! My gifts from LadyUranus!

This delightful cross-stitch sampler made me laugh and laugh!

A shield bracelet - looks like she cut out the metal shields herself!

And since we agreed to swap a book, she sent me a copy of Mistborn, which I have actually not read, though I have been meaning to!

Thanks, LadyUranus!

Since my partner did not send me a skein of yarn with the socks, our wonderful organizer, stitch81, took it upon herself to send me one! It is gorgeous and I can't wait to make it into socks!

Thanks, stitch81! I will send you something next week after school ends!

I did not receive a skein.

I received from donniesgirl! I'm having a bit of a stressful time in school right now, and her package totally made my week.

First, a set of kitchen towels with herb recipe appliques (apricot rosemary rice pudding, and thyme and wine poached pears! yum yum!)

A lavender eye pillow that smells and feels wonderful!

The best thing of all - a gathering apron! It's beautiful, and has big pockets perfect for collecting eggs from the chickens, plus a recipe on the pocket for blueberry basil pie:

Here's the apron all tied up and ready to be filled with herbs and veggies from the garden:

Tea! Peach Blossom; Lavender Sunset; and much-needed Allergy Soother (nettle leaves, elder flowers, rose hips, lime blossoms, peppermint, and mullein flowers)

She also made me 3 sheets of return address labels with herb pictures, but I'm not posting them because... well... addresses.

Thank you so much, donniesgirl!!! I will have your package in the mail tomorrow!
