11  UNITED STATES / New Jersey / Do you need a permit/license to sell @ a craft fair on: March 14, 2010 01:02:58 PM
I heard from someone that you need a business license to sell you products at a craft fair, and if you don't have one your goods could be confiscated! could you imagine?   Anyway, does anyone participate in craft shows in NJ & do you know know if this is true / false
Thanks

Thanks for all the kind feedback Smiley

Raindrop - you can google resin spoon pendants for better directions
There are also really good directions on craftster - search resin spoon pendant or necklace - not sure which one...

but here is my abridged version - and feel free to ask any questions if you don't understand.

cut the handle off w/ a dremel  (leave @ 1/2 ")  make sure its a cheapy spoon, or the remaining handle may be too hard to bend

bend the remaining handle backwords into a loop

You can use magazine paper, computer print outs, or just paint - whatever you want -sky's the limit
If its a light color picture you are putting down, paint the spoon white first - otherwise the pic can get a little dark after resin

Glue it down well,  After its dry SEAL THE PICTURE WELL- with modgepodge or even glue. (I used modgepodge)

Take extra glue and glob it around the side of the spoon - you will pull it off afterwards, but if the resin gets under the paper it makes ugly "water marks" around the edge

after everything is dry

I used easy cast resin - follow the directions - mix it up & pour it in the spoon -- let it set on wax paper -- if you accidentally overflow it - you can pull the excess resin off the back of the spoon w/ needle nose pliers after its fully dry

**You can even print on thick card stock & let the picture "float" in the spoon  - but don't really let it float - glue it down w/ a bead or something behind it - because otherwise -it really will float to the top - seal both sides

Hope this helps - and again - Thanks for the kind words Smiley

Thanks Smiley   The snowmen have clay noses & coal eyes/mouths.   The pics don't do it justice, so you can't tell that they are 3 d.  I will try to post some closer pics later today or tomorrow, so you can see the seedbeeds & snowmen better Smiley
Thanks again ladies.

Every year my Mom & I make ornaments for the Family to hand out on Christmas Eve

While perusing Craftster I saw the resin spoon necklace pendants, and decided that would be the framework of our ornaments this year.

We made a few generic ones, and a few customized, one for the NJ Devils fan, and one for a vacuum-aholic (the vacuum w/ the hearts around it), one w/ my cousin's dogs, etc....   We enjoyed making them, now I can't wait to hand them out!
Some are filled w/ seed beads behind the main image - which I think look great up close!

I have been lurking for so long, finally I have something to post.

Every year we make Christmas ornaments for everyone in the family on Christmas Eve.  This year I was searching Craftster for inspiration, and the resin spoons that people have been wearing as neckaces caught my eye.

So I got some larger tablespoons, and made ornaments out of them  There are plenty more in process - some with pictures of kids / pets  etc... I'll post more as I make them.

Anyway - here are my first attempts at resin spoon ornaments.  - They came out great I think - some are filled with beads etc..

Following the resin spoons are painted spoons with bent handles.  The Idea is 100% plagiarized... if you google "spoon ornaments" the exact picture comes up - I claim no creativity on them.

Thanks for looking - i hope you like them
