5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: First try with glass etching cream - etched votive holder! on: June 20, 2009 09:21:42 AM
This is actually technically the first try...the first time I did it, I left it on for the time it said (like 5 minutes, I think), then washed it off, and there was barely anything. So I redid it, and left it on for closer to 10 minutes. I used votive holders from AC Moore, so maybe it has something to do with using cheap glass? Try leaving it on for longer than the directions say. Good luck! ^_^

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Bunk activity for 15-20 sixteen and seventeen year olds? on: June 04, 2009 03:31:45 PM
In the end of August, my friend and I are staffing a week-long youth group event and need to plan a bunk activity for our group. We generally get about an hour and a half for the activity. Technically, we're only supposed to spend like $5 a head, but the past two years we've been way way over and still gotten reimbursed, so I don't think it matters too much. ^_^ Here's what we've done the last couple years that has gone over pretty well:

year 1: had the girls paint wooden plaques, then took a bunk picture of them and mod podged it on
year 2: gave them white t-shirts and puffy paint and had them decorate their own Encampment '08 sophomore girls shirts

So, we need something epic to follow up this year with! Any suggestions?  Grin
8  ASIA / Japan / Not technically craft related, but...travel help (and maybe a friend!) :( on: May 29, 2009 08:41:10 PM
So, my friends and I trying to plan a trip to Japan this summer. Or rather, my friends are relying on me to do all the work, because I know how to do these things apparently. >.< So basically...what should I do with 9ish days, and what's the least expensive way to do it? As of now, I'm staying around Tokyo, because that's what I can afford. I want to see Kyoto, but I don't know if that's logistically/economically possible. Is there some easy cheap way to do that?

I've also been stalking the Tokyo board writing down all the craft store suggestions...if I'm going to the anime museum with the boyfriend, he's coming to the craft store with me. Tongue

Any help is appreciated. ^_^
