1  CANADA / Ontario / Re: Sewing Maching Repair Toronto on: May 18, 2010 06:03:19 PM
I take my sewing machine to the dealership on Younge and Eglington.
The Sewing Centre
Toronto   Phone: (416) 487-4438
The owner really knows sewing machines. Last year the rate was $75.
I also took an antique machine to World Sew on Queen and Ossington  because I didn't want to pay too much. He was good too and only charged $35.

Good Luck.

Take the picture with to the fabric store.Try different fabrics and drape the fabric on yourself. For a more flow y dress you may want to consider cutting it on the bias.
Good luck
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Covering a burn mark?! Help Needed Immediately, Please! on: April 20, 2010 09:01:53 AM
You must be devastated.I can only imagine how I'd feel.

The best thing to do is take a break for it for a while and pick it up  again when you can think clearly.
Some tiny organza rose stitched over it may work.
Or since you seem to be using a plain fabric, I would add an insert and cut that section out. There are quite a few options, an embroidered panel with shades of the same color. a applique with  contrasting fabrics colors, or a strip of lace.
Or you can introduce just a little bit of the sash color by using it as an insert or pieces of your scraps, stitching narrow strips of the two colors together and then add it in as an insert..

Good luck.
