1  Paper butterfly mobile in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: June 17, 2010 08:22:08 AM
I saw one similar to this at Pottery Barn Kids and Loved it, and also saw the potential of how easy it would be to make for my daughters room.
I was going to get one of those snazzy butterfly shaped paper punches... but realized that i didn't have any finances to allocate to my off the cuff crafty project, and so i pulled out the little scissors and started cutting... + string + seed beads + plastic ring I cut off a large bowl lid i don't need = this!

Hope you like it Smiley

With only three days till I fly to Cali. for my brothers wedding I FINALLY made their present... Any other procrastinators out there?
Well they are both Starbucks-caffiene-aholics so I thought it'd be cute to make them his and hers coffee sleeves.. i suppose this could've gone under sewing as well, but since i embroidered it too... eh, enough talking... heres the pic!

3  Added a little girly-ness to my carseat in Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: September 02, 2009 06:32:20 PM
I wanted some more padding on the handle as well as a way to add toys, and decided to make new strap covers to make it all a bit more girly.

4  Girls top from mens shirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: May 11, 2009 10:33:37 AM
I was in the mood to make something cute today and have had these mens shirts I got at a thrift store with the intentions of making into something else. And the result was this top... I started out with a pattern for an 18 months dress and changed it here and there until it became this top for sz. 3-5 yrs.  Roll Eyes
It fits my 3 and 5 year old sons, and they wanted to model it for me but my hubby has this issue of posting pictures of my sons in dresses...  Undecided haha (I am about to have my first daughter, and need the practice making dresses and such)

so anyway...here it is...

5  Super Easy kids pants from mens polo shirt - w/ tute in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: April 01, 2009 12:16:48 PM
I have not sewed any pants for my boys before, but my kids seem to grow a few inches taller each night while asleep so they've run out of pajama pants quickly, and needed some more.
Also, my husband has an excess of work shirts that are the cotton polo type that he doesn't like to wear so instead of throwing them away I decided to solve two problems at once.
And what I found out was a ridiculously easy way to make pants!!!

Heres the process... first grab a pair of pants that fit to get an idea of the shape you'll need for the crotch, and width of leg. I did not cut along the right side of the pattern piece b/c i wanted to leave the sewed seam intact for the inner leg.

I cut all the way from the bottom of the shirt. That way the bottom edge was already hemmed and the inner leg seam was already sewed (see i told you it was easy!!)

THis is what you'll be left with once you cut both legs out. plenty of fabric if you wanted to add pockets or something.

And for the sewing you have only 4 seams to sew.
for each leg...

then flip one pants leg the right side out, and slide it into the other leg (so right sides are facing and crotch is matched up.)

and finally fold over waist and hem and sew, leaving opening to thread elastic through

add the elastic and thats it!
My kids love them, and that they have the logo where daddy works on them.

I used a 3X shirt and copied a pair of pajamas that said it was for size 6-7 boys. I'm sure i'll be making some shorts in the very near future as well.

7  Newest dress! ...Tired of these yet?? in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: February 28, 2009 08:43:52 AM
I'm thrilled with how productive i'v been latly to start and finish these projects! it deff. helps tht their so small and quick to finish.
I got some Elastic thread the other day to try some rouching b/c i love to look of it.
The neckline on this didn't quite gather as much as i'd hoped, so I may need to add shoulder straps or something, but that'll have to wait till I can try it on the little Miss.
It measures about 13 inches from the top of the shoulder to the bottom hem.

Thanks for looking!

8  Pillowcase dress w/ applique in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: February 27, 2009 06:24:00 AM
I came across a tutorial (or 15) for a pillowcase dress and since i'm on a dress kick latly decided to give it a try.
They are SO easy!! The fabric was looking too plain by itself so I thought it needed something extra, thus the applique.
What do you think?

9  Dress and Bloomers for my girl! New dresses added!! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: February 13, 2009 12:13:50 PM
After three boys I am now expecting a daughter this summer so I finally get to sew the little dresses I've been hoping to! The dress here I made from a tutorial for a Peasant style top, and the bloomers Are from New Look pattern 6718.

THis one is my absolute Fave!! The fabric was from a friend, and I knew it had to be a dress once I saw it!

And this is the finished jumper for my neice.

Thanks for looking!

And this sweater I made from some Cheniell (sp?) yarn given to me by a friend, it was too thick to knit, and I had to use a much larger hook than the pattern called far so I just made the pieces the same dimensions as the pieces called for. http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80860AD.html?noImages=
it's super thick and warm, so it should be great for winter!

10  Newborn long stocking hats in Knitting: Completed Projects by AndreaDeniell on: January 26, 2009 06:41:09 AM
Ok, so I'm not sure what exactly these things are called. I saw something similar on Flickr (here, http://www.flickr.com/photos/drulia/3101237666/ ) and had to make one for the little one that'll be arriving this summer. Then some friends asked for some too to use as photo props. Thier SO cute and soft! I can't wait to have a little one to try it on!
