1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 69 ENTRIES / 'AngryBirds Cuckoo clock' on: December 05, 2011 03:18:06 AM
My 12yr old daughter is nuts about the Angry Birds game and the merchandise is a bit over my budget so i wanted to make her something and with my husbands help with a saw! (so its a joint effort from Missdolly and Mrdolly  Grin  )

I only finished the roof painting this morning so it still looks a little 'tacky' and needs another coat yet and then varnish, the back of the clock is uncovered as i downloaded a 'cuckoo' sounds app for her ipod touch which cuckoos on the hour haha and hopefully gets her up for school !!
The Angry birds are made out of fimo which i'd never used before and my first lot of birds burnt and stuck solid to my baking tray (stoopid me)
The clock was a cheap clock i took apart so i could use the mechanisms and its fully working!

We loved doing this little project and daughter has seen it and loves it so we are pleased  Grin

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Dog walkers swap? on: May 24, 2011 03:35:31 PM
Would anyone be interested in a dog walking related swap? (not a craft for your pet type swap) more aimed at making life easier for the dog walker?
Dog treat pouches, poo bag holders, shoulder bags/purses, Key rings, gloves, scarves for winter etc ipod cozies, camera case, mobile phone holder that kind of thing?
I haven't the time nor the organizing ability to start it up if anyone was interested in volunteering but i'd love to craft in this subject and could spare some each night if there was enough willing people maybe?

Was thinking along the lines of a smallish swap a medium and a small?

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Book themed swap? on: March 13, 2010 04:06:33 PM
I think the last one was late last year but i missed it does anyone fancy it?

You swap a book you like and also craft items themed around the book..
4  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 47 ENTRIES / Fish 'n' Chips bag yum yum!! on: February 05, 2010 07:25:30 AM

This is my 1st time entering! and my daughter wanted a bag for her stuff for school and i thought hmmmmm when putting chips in the oven (fries) and not throwing the bag away!!

So i hunted in my stash and found some fabric with fish on that i bought scrap at the fabric shop and i just have never found a use for it or anyone that would like it !!
I made the lining and handles out of the 'fishy' fabric i made the lining a little shorter inside so as not to put any undue stress on the plastic and i also put duct tape around the top edge before sewing the fabric onto it so it wouldn't tear..But you can't see that as its hidden now under the 'fishies'...

Sewn it all together and VOILA my Fish 'n' Chip Bag!!!!! Its quite funky and i don't think i'm gonna give it my daughter  Grin Grin

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Singer Pressomatic anyone? on: December 06, 2009 09:35:46 AM
By sheer chance this morning i got talking to a friend of my mums who said she had a sewing machine i could have, she 'thinks' she bought it over 20yrs ago... I have got it home and its in perfect working order and boy oh boy the noise its heaven to the ears so smooth running!! i've stripped it down and oiled it etc i think its missing a wooden base tho.

Its very basic which suits me fine but i can't seem to find a manual for it online or any mention of it on google (apart from a german ebay auction) and its come with no extras which i'd like to buy ie a zipper foot do i just buy any singer zipper foot?

Thanks Sarah  Smiley

oh its a singer pressomatic 967
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Tote Bag n Purse swap? on: November 17, 2009 04:39:40 PM
I was wondering if anyone fancied doing this after New Year?(if its not been done lately) In UK its absolute tote crazy every shop is selling their own nowadays for the enviroment and theres nothing nicer than using a handmade original!! Just a simple 2 handle design i thought (additional sleeve with keyring loop to fold it into?) and a matching small change purse?

Be great if there could be a few swappers interested?

7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / sewing machine problem (spool pin) on: October 01, 2009 03:12:27 AM
has anyone any ideas? i moved over a year ago and what with all that and other problems i haven't even bothered to get my sewing machine out. However with Christmas approaching i went to get it out to start on some presents and the plastic spool pin has snapped!!! (i obviously didnt push the pin in whilst in transit)

I can't even find the bit that has broken off so i can't use it as i've nothing to put the thread on! has anyone any ideas? i was wondering if i can glue something on it? but i doubt it would stay?

Thanks Sarah
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Nintendo DS pouch on: May 16, 2008 07:50:19 AM
Chatting to another member whose wish list was a nintendo ds case i had a think and decided to make one up based on the messenger bag design!!

This ones for my daughter and measures a snug 7'x4' i had to make it quite a tight fit so the pocket on the front was taut and wouldn't sag so much (as the fabric was an arse to work with) Shocked Its lined with the same fabric, and the pocket on the front would fit 3 ds games and a stylus..With the webbing strap it comes to boob length just under my armpit..

Minus a daughter to model it i had to make do with myself and the dog  Grin

And my desperately seeking peace and quiet dog Dolly..  Grin

Oh and this was for the standard DS not the lite version, and next time i'll do individual pockets but the fabric was a pain so i did it without this time..
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I got the whole wide world in my bag!! lol on: May 10, 2008 11:52:10 AM
I am soooo thrilled with this bargain buy! On my way into town i called at the carboot sale and came across this,
A pillowcase with the map of the world on it!!! (i was literally wetting myself when he said its only 20pence!!)..  Grin Grin Grin

After a few hours hehe my all new map of the world messenger bag!!, i totally love this bag i took my time and made it really well its next to perfect (well by my standards) i used khaki webbing for the handle (extra long as i love bags that sit on my thigh/hip)..and its 8' x 12'..

Isn't it just a fabulous find!!!  Grin Grin my daughter wants it and my husband wants it to use as a fishing bag, i told them in many choice swearwords to take a hike..
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Grrrrrrrrr (kids monster bag!) on: May 08, 2008 05:53:57 PM
Having made myself a little shopper i knew my daughter would be miffed i hadn't made her anything so i was following the plastic bag pattern but this material was such a devil to work with i couldn't make it work out, so altered it to suit but the material was fabulous at hiding a multitude of sins! my house looks like theres been a neon pink snowstorm tho Grin Grin

I hope you guys like it i can't wait to see her face in the morning  Kiss
