1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Michael's Craft Store's Indigo Shawl Pattern/Crocheting Flowers? on: November 12, 2008 05:01:10 AM
Hi.
I picked up one of Michael's Free Project Sheets yesterday - Caron Indigo Shawl #25450. Maybe someone else has it, too? If not that's okay - it's a pretty detailed question.

This is what my pattern says:

With G hook chain 4. Join w/ slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Slip st in ring, ch5 (counts as first dc, ch 2), [dc in ring, ch 2] 7 times; join with slip st in third ch of beg ch - 8 ch-2 sp.

(Firstly, the parentheses throw me off. And what is "sp"?)

Rnd 2: Slip st in first ch-2sp, ch 4 (counts as first tr), 3 tr in same ch-2sp, ch 2 [4 tr in next chain-2 sp, ch 2] around; join with slip st in top of beg ch-8 ch-2 sp and 32 tr. Fasten off.

It may be a lot to ask of someone, but maybe (hopefully) this is a simple problem and someone might be able to explain it to me?

 Thanks:)
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Sock pattern help needed. on: February 03, 2008 12:54:37 AM
I was working on my first sock attempt and I finally got to the interesting part which is also the hard part I guess............. annnnd now I'm stuck.

http://www.crochetandknitting.com/socks.htm <---This is the pattern.

It is after:
ROW 37 - (Joining row) ss to join Row 36 to Row 1. Turn inside out.

that I get stuck.

--> You now have a tube shape of ribbing. To start the foot of the sock, with right side facing you, ch 1, 1 sc at base of ch 1, 1 sc along each end of ribbing rows, ss to join to first sc at beg. (36 sc)

That part has confused me. Any way someone might be able to word it differently for me, or just help me out with the sock itself??
