21  Bag #3- and then I'm done for today!! :D in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by CeruleanEyes on: February 07, 2008 08:25:30 PM
The last bag I made is the same idea but with different handles.  The material is the faux-suede that is popular now with embroidered flowers and (I don't know if you can see them) little sparkley bits all over.  I interfaced all sides, in and out so it's pretty sturdy.  I put in a pencil pocket (big surprise!!) and and open pocket.  The handles are different and I actually like it this way I think more than the long shoulder straps on the other two.  I used blue thread to zig-zag around the top edge and straight stitch along both edges of the handles.  Again, I am pleased with how it turned out.  For all three bags, I 'stitched in the ditch' along the sides to keep the lining from moving around so much, it made the bag feel more solid.

A pic of the open pocket:

No pic of the pencil pocket but I'm sure you can use your imagination.  Cheesy

Can't wait to start my next project!!

Thanks for looking!   Grin

22  Second Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by CeruleanEyes on: February 07, 2008 08:12:52 PM
The second bag I made was a pink one with white lining.  The pink material is a sort of jaquard that I had a scrap of.  The lining material is white eyelet (I love eyelet!!)  I used lightweight (iron-on) interfacing on the eyelet to give it a bit of substance.   The strap is kind of wide and I put the eyelet on the outside for a sort of contrast and I made pockets using both materials inside.  To 'jazz' it up a bit I sewed 3 small flower appliques to the front.  I am pleased with how it turned out.  It's meant to be a gift for a friend's little (4yr. old) girl.

23  Newbie!! First of 3 new bags I've made this week. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by CeruleanEyes on: February 07, 2008 07:49:18 PM
I am new to Craftster.  I love this place!!!

I am on a bag making kick lately and in the last 2 days I've made 3.  They are small book bags for my daughters to carry their bibles and study materials in, etc.

The first one is brown mini-cord with embroidered flowers.  I put a little pencil pocket on the inside and I made a long, narrow shoulder strap for this one.  I am so pleased with how it came out.

This is a close up of the fabric detail.

Pretty, no?  Cheesy
