1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Pimp my Craftster Avatar! on: May 18, 2009 07:29:49 AM
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a swap where you design a unique avatar for your partner? It could be done digitally or an ATC, painting, collage, felted or quilled and then scanned in or photographed depending on the size.

It would be low cost and could even be emailed to save on shipping. Or it could be made into a bigger swap and you could add a small item to send with your altered art.

I'm open to ideas if others are interested  Smiley

Can any of you tell me how to get the frosting like this on top?

I am going to make a giant cupcake cake for my daughters first birthday and have never done fancy frosting before, so if you have any tips i would really appreciate it.

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Has anyone made an ispy bag? on: March 10, 2008 02:37:27 PM
I saw this ispy bag and thought it was so cute and would like to make one for my DD. Does anyone know where to find really little objects to put inside for cheap?

4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Silly question about thrifting wool sweaters... on: February 22, 2008 02:53:59 PM
ok, so i went to our local thrift store to see what I could find but was confused on what percentage of wool the sweater needs to be? I could not find any that were 100% wool, most were 50 or 60% wool mixed with another fabric. Will these still work for felting? Any advice on thrifting sweaters would also be helpful...
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Tacking a lining and a zipper question... on: February 11, 2008 06:36:31 PM
1. If you are making a bowling style bag that is larger and you want the lining to stay put on the upper curved part, how would you go about tacking it in place so it did not show on the outside?

2. If you are putting a zipper in the top of your bag, and you want to line the inside of it, how do you do this? I thought i saw a tut for this, but now i can't find it.

Thanks for your help!
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Question about selling Amy Butler bags on: February 08, 2008 12:33:28 PM
Does anyone know if you can sell bags made with any of Amy Butlers patterns?

Also in general, what kind of guidelines are there for selling bags you have made? I have made a couple, (none that i could part with at this point) and am just curious?
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Need help with Snaps - not the magnetic kind, the male & female ones! on: February 06, 2008 09:23:46 PM
ok, so i feel really dumb, but i have been trying over and over again to install a snap on a project i am working on and for the life of me cannot get one of these things to work!

i have the size 16 snaps with the little blue installer (says easy snap installer on it). i followed the directions and pushed with pokie parts thru my fabric, then put it in the installer and put the male or female part on top (i have tried it with either part, thinking one might be easier to install than the other, but no luck). Then hammer away. But for some reason the pokie things go down into the fabric without catching on the male or female parts. And they are really hard to get out of your fabric if they do not catch and made a big hole in my first attempt to remove it. I would like to avoid using the sew on snaps if possible and i can't use the magnetic ones because it might damage my ipod.

if anyone has any hints i would really appreciate it.
