11  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Jack Skellington- Sally is on her way! on: December 30, 2010 04:34:19 AM
I made this for my friend's daughter for Christmas. It was my first try at polymer clay and after finishing him I wish I had the time for a do-over! lol

Once I had him together and baked he didn't balance on his own so he could stand, now when I make Sally she not only has to stand balanced on her own but she has to put enough weight on Jack's left hand to keep him upright! Grrr!

My friend's daughter loves him, and can't wait for me to finish Sally to go along with him. Little does she know she is getting the complete set! By the time I get to the dog I will be a pro! lmao
I spent the afternoon while watching all the college ball games putting 'skin' on Sally's armature. I haven't finished it yet, the clay got warm so I had to give her a break for a while, just thought I would update you.

C&C's welcome!

12  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / A new sofa blanket for Hubby! on: December 27, 2010 01:21:12 PM
My daughter and I spotted this fabric and instantly knew what I was going to do with it. He loves to play pirate games on the internet so this will keep him cozy while he plays!

It really isn't a quilt because it isn't quilted, it isn't sewn so if this isn't the spot for this post-so be it!

This is taken on my kitchen table so it's folded up but will fit a twin bed!
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sock Monkey Hats on: December 25, 2010 06:50:41 AM
Here is a picture of two hats I made my Niece and Nephew. I adapted a picture of a hat I saw on Etsy and made my own pattern out of it.

My nephew's hat has a snap strap under his chin and my niece's has the typical braids.

15  COOKING / Dessert / XBox cake on: November 11, 2010 03:23:23 PM
Here is a cake I made recently for a friend's son, as you can see he turned 8! I made the game look like the Halo game using his name and age instead. I painted the cover with paste colouring diluted with water.
C&C welcome!

16  COOKING / Dessert / Wedding Cake for my Father in Law's wedding on: October 27, 2010 04:34:39 PM
My Father in Law got remarried last week and my daughter was kind enough to volunteer her services for a cake, only one problem, she worked almost every night after school and was quickly running out of time! Mom stepped in!
She was going to bake it, I was going to 'show' her how to decorate it. I did it all! lol
Two weeks of making fondant flowers, a few each night after dinner while watching tv. It's not perfect but it worked

c&c welcome!

18  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Fitting plus size patterns on: August 02, 2010 04:27:53 PM
Does anyone have any tricks on fitting patterns for plus size clothing?
I am two sizes smaller on top than on the bottom which is getting to be impossible to buy pre-made dresses without having to alter the top.
I am a typical pear shape-help!

19  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Foam Egg Carton-butterfly pattern on: July 17, 2010 06:44:11 PM
Hi All!
I know what I want to make, just can't find a pattern!

Anyone know where I can find the pattern to make butterflies out of foam egg cartons?

An old friend of my moms use to make them when I was a wee girl, I had many of them on my fridge since everytime we went to visit she gave me one to take home.
Now that I work in a retirement home I would like to teach my residents how to make them. If anyone has the pattern or can stear me in the right direction I would appreciate it!

Thanks,
C
20  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Appliqued Geisha wall hanging on: March 21, 2010 06:51:21 AM
I was in a quilt store last week while on holidays and saw an adorable wall hanging made with three blocks. Two were Geishas with shoulder length hair and one was with short hair. The blocks almost look like they would have come from a childs colouring book. Very basic to say the least.

Does anyone know where I can find this pattern? I asked at the store and the lady said the person who made it found it on-line last spring! I'm going to email them and see if she can dig deeper for me but I thought in the mean time my favourite people here on Craftster will help me!

Thanks!
