theheartofgold, I love all your photographs. They're very atmospheric. Do you have a Flickr account? Plus, I'm loving your avatar. Secretary is one of my favorites.

Here's a recent one I took. I'm working on solar flares:

2  Guerilla Photography in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by _teacup_ on: August 10, 2008 02:34:36 PM
I don't know how guerilla, but it felt edgy to me, so I'm going with it. I spent this morning taking pictures in an abandoned apartment building and then from outside a laundromat (that I was asked to leave earlier this week for taking photos).

Anyway, I did the edits you see with my lame printer program.

I changed the saturation on this one.

I can only hope it gives off the incredibly creepy vibe I was getting while I was there. It was raining inside this parking garage. Not outside, mind you, but inside. If I were a virgin I'd have been afraid I was going to get it from an axe murderer any second.

This one made me smirk.

KiwiQ: I think your action shots are really great! Like you said, you have to anticipate for action and the ropes on that last one are just captivating. Nicely caught.

cigarettesandvalentines: Love your shots. I really like the one of the bird with the dead grass clippings. Says a lot. I'd love to see the opposite focus on it, too, and see the fence in the rear of the headstone. How do these look in b&w?! Very curious.

try.fail.repeat: I don't know how you got those dragonflies to sit for you. Nice. I am nuts about the water shots. The light on the pads and around the leaves is just great.

I watched this guy emerge for about an hour today near my compost pile:

There are others there but note the last cicada isn't the one I saw emerge. After an hour on my knees and elbows, I let the other guy fly his maiden voyage solo. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/pictures?a=67b0de21b34573284536&v=67b0de21bd266996459c

Oh, sweet bird!

emyru, both your photos are great. Nice clarity and angle on the web, and the expression and framing on your daughter are perfect. It's so hard to really capture kids (especially when they're doing something as active as being in the water).

Puppy_girl, the ducks look as if they're having a disagreement. And the sky and swing photos are really evocative, as is the one of the beach chair, bigfatroses.

I have two questions.

1: Is this photo too cliche?
2: Does the tree in the background kill it?

Thanks for feedback.

Thanks bushbaby. (I'm hugging you per your avatar request, btw.) I tried to do that in slideshow mode but it wouldn't let me access properties. It lets me do it in regular view mode. I took this one today. So weird. Some random balloon floating along the sidewalk.

I cannot get the photo hosting to work for me, so here's a link to Shutterfly. They all obviously look better in the slideshow view.

I tend to shoot what's in the yard and found objects.

edited to add photos to Shutterfly:

Thanks! I couldn't decide between that one and this one. In retrospect I think this shot is better because of the way the needles point directly to the egg and how much more distinct the cracked edge is.

I was out taking photos in the yard today, walked by the blue spruce, and saw this eggshell on it. I wonder what happened? I don't think the nest was in that tree.

Is this macro proper? I was thinking of posting it for the challenge, but I think the subjects are macro, not the photo style itself. The bee is midflight and I love the unlikelihood of seeing them on the same flower.
