I'm trying to find the name of a finding that is used for long crystals...it's kind of like a bead cap and is approx an inch long! I believe they are plastic and are painted either silver or gold. I used to have some, but they were bought a long time ago, so can't even remember where I got them from. I can't even find a pic of one so I can include it with this post.....unless I take a pic of the one I have....maybe I'll do that. In fact I will.
Sorry I can't help more, but that's the only way of describing it.
Hopefully someone can let me know what the name is, and perhaps even where I can buy them from please?
As I admitted in my post about the Bootie Bag, which you can see here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=300945.msg3435319#msg3435319 I haven't been posting many pics of completed items lately, so here's a few other projects I've completed...most have been done from tutorials I've found on the net, or purchased patterns...if there's any you're interested in trying out, please ask and I'll try and tell you where the pattern can be found.
First up we have some coin purses...the original pattern was for faux lined or not lined curved top purses, but as I've recently been playing around with quilting fabric for bags, thought I'd try it out on these cute coin purses (wish Australia sold as many varieties as the USA in pre-quilted fabric, sob sob), I've also made a smaller one, and they are in high demand, but haven't taken a pic of that yet...am waiting on my friends pass me down camera.
Next up we have what I consider to be my "Gay Pride" boxy bag....I love how unique this one looks....don't think I've personally seen any of these out there anywhere, till now!
Some of the girls at the adult campus I attend (where I do a sewing course) were all making these "Chenille Bags" and one of the ladies, thanks Cathy, told me what to do to make one....and I just went home and 'did it'. I had the sun & moon fabric cut out ready to make a different bag, but when Cathy said how to make the Chenille bags, it just begged to be made up into one...gonna try making some other colour ones soon.
That's the outside of the bag, and the next pic is of the lining, showing the pockets...it also has a longish key fob that I put in (which is the bit you see poking over towards the right from my hand in the pic), so I didn't have to rummage around the bottom of my bag looking for keys...this way, I just grab the cord, and pull on it, and tah dah, the keys are at the end of it!
Now, anyone for tea? I saw a tutorial for tea wallets and thought they were great, then, as usual, I started thinking how I could make the pattern in a different way...so mine aren't quite the same as the originals....and instead of a loop and button, I put press studs on mine...wish I could find the nice white plastic ones, but can't locate them anywhere. The 5 Sunflower ones at the front, were a custom order for my sewing teacher at school...she supplied the fabric for hers...and then still paid me to make them! I've just made some with the matching business card holders, and am thinking about making complete sets, with coin purses, cell phone holders and glasses cases as well as 'womens things' holders as accessory sets.
All c&c greatly appreciated and welcomed Hugs Naomi from Adelaide, Sth Australia
I haven't been posting as much in here lately...and definately haven't been posting many of my completed projects, so thought I should share at least one of them with you. I completed this Bootie Bag as part of a sew-a-long I joined in a Yahoo group I'm in. It's amazing to see how many different variations were made from the one pattern....for instance, I have a sewing group at my house on Tuesday afternoons with a couple of friends, and all 3 of us did the bags, but all 3 are different....only one of the others have finished theirs so far (the other wasn't well last week when we finished our journey off, but she'll finish hers next week). I'll post pics of Marions as well as mine....let us know what you all think of our bags.
I've been a bit slack with coming in here lately, but have had a busy few weeks....BUT still managed to find time to whip up a couple of bags....let me know what you think.
The first is a little set I made for one of my teachers (sewing believe it or not!) and it's only my third attempt at patchwork, but kind of designed the pattern as I went.
The next is a series of pics of a bag I did for someone in a bag swap (in a Yahoo group that I'm a member of). It was a swap of a different kind, in that we sent the person our own fabric...and we all used the same pattern. It's interesting to see how we've all made changes to the finished item to individualise it. It's safe to post pics now, as she's received her bag.
And lastly, a friend of mine snuck a birthday in, and I just HAD (smiles) to make her a bag. I made a tissue holder and wallet to match, but forgot to take pics of them! Anyhoo, here's two pics of the bag.
I'll accept any comments, good, bad or ugly. Oh, and please excuse the messy work area...but I'm a self proclaimed grot!
Hugs and happy sewing Naomi Adelaide, Sth Australia
Just thought I'd post pics of the handbag I just finished for my daughter Hayley....What do ya's all think of it? The colours are a bit hard to show with my cruddy photo taking skills, but here it is....I lined it with some pre-quilted calico.
After a small hiccup (I stuffed up cutting my pattern out and thought there was a problem with Sues' pattern, but it was just me having brain fade!) I've just made 4 identical shopping bags, using Sues great semi tutorial which is found on page 2 of this link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=228521.10
Let me know what you think, they are for a belated birthday present for a 70+ year old male.....won't he look grand going shopping now?
The outer material is like an imitation cord and the inner is a great lining fabric with like a sheen to it...I'm loving the way they came out.....gonna make myself some in the next few weeks, as well as some market bags when the tute is up and running for them.
I'm normally a poster in the Purses forum, but need to knit a few beanies but somehow have lost my pattern book.....it's here somewhere, but who knows where? Certainly not me.
I have some Feathers wool and need to knit adult size beanies on 2 needles.....All I can remember of the pattern, is I used to cast on roughly 90 sts using Feathers wool and 4&1/2 mm needles, but as for how long I knitted and what decreases I made, I wouldn't like to try!
I would really appreciate it, if someone in here could point me in the right direction for a pattern that I can use, till I find my book again. I'm loathed against (does that even make sense?) buying another copy of the book, when I have it here somewhere!
It doesn't matter if the pattern isn't for Feathers wool, but I do need it to be adult sizing, and on 2 needles....I don't do making up my own knitting patterns, and I don't do dpn or fair isle knitting either! lol
Thanks and hopefully someone can help me soon, so I can get these beanies out of the way and return to my sewing.
I can't find the post where I promised a copy of this bag, so I've started this one to show it off. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, as is the friend I made it for. She goes to bingo every week, so the fabric was a great choice, and as she goes early, she takes along her crochet to keep busy with while she waits.
The lining is just plain black poplin and there aren't any inner pockets as she didn't want any. Sorry about the cruddy pic....am trialling a webcam that should be doing a better job of pics than it is.
Let me know what you think of it....good/bad/ugly....all comments are welcome.
