I love this! I have some very blah t-shirts that I've embroidered, hoping it would make them wow! shirts. So far they are just blah-embroidered. I'm going to give bleaching a try now...  Grin

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / adjusting a pattern? on: December 14, 2008 11:04:18 AM
I bought a pattern for slippers to make for DH. The pattern is for a men's size 9. DH wears a 13.  Embarrassed I don't know why I didn't ask the seller... but I'm wondering about adjusting. The pattern calls for making the sole first and then working up & over the foot. Is it as simple as just making the sole big enough for his foot and then following the pattern (adjusting as I go)?

I'll have to give those a try. Thank you both!

Here's a free pattern- http://home.att.net/~susanBinKC/patterns/mobius.html I've also seen similar patterns on Etsy for about $5.
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you crochet a Yarmukle for a doll? on: December 08, 2008 02:47:51 PM
I would just grab a small hook and start crocheting in the round. Experiment with increasing with each round. You could also use a pattern designed for a child and use a very small hook and a finer yarn than what the pattern calls for (try sock weight yarn).
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Duplicate stitches with crochet? on: December 07, 2008 07:44:23 PM
I know it's possible to do a duplicate stitch with knitting, but is it possible to do it with crocheting?

I used the plantable seed paper for my wedding invites. I really loved it!

Definitely look for non-traditional locations. Plus, you can still have it on your anny- Sundays are usually cheaper! Just have a late morning/midday ceremony & an afternoon reception and people can be on their way home at a reasonable time for Monday morning (although, this is an excellent time for a vacation/sick day!) June is tough, though. I got lucky and the place we're getting married at (a community owned farm $1500 for Friday-Monday) had a cancellation about a week before I called.
