1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Horrible Rainbow Yarn...Help! on: June 26, 2008 02:14:39 PM
I recently rediscovered a horrible secret hiding under my bed. It was a half-knit seed stitch hat knit flat in needles I needed. Besides that, it's a horrible, revolting rainbow of technicolors.

Yes, I am the ashamed owner of almost a skein of Red Heart Supersaver in Bikini. Now, half my stash is Red Heart which I'm trying to eat up, that's not the shame. However, even pooling as the disgraceful pictures below show just how atrocious this colorway is.

What in the world can I do with this? It's mid-frog, no worries there, but I'm at a real loss as to a good pattern (I'd settle for half-decent) to use this up on. No one I closely know is pregnant nor has a toddler so baby clothes are out of the question. Help!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Geek Chic Bag on: June 12, 2008 10:13:56 PM
Warning: I borrowed this idea from http://www.instructables.com/id/Floppy-Disk-Bag/. Go check it out first. Also, I really didn't know what forum to put this in, so I guessed.

So I saw the above bag about a year ago and have been itching to make my own ever since. I knew Dad had a stash of floppies in the basement but didn't want to randomly take something he wanted. This weekend I asked for whatever he had plus a roll of duct tape. An hour later, I got this:

Here's an inside shot:

And the lovely stripe going all around the sides/bottom/top of the flap:

The strap is an old computer cable I had already gotten from my dad taped to the inside. I'm going to cover it with packaging tape when I have a chance because I'm nervous about the floppies coming unstuck randomly.

Edited for spelling.
